Clinically dead is not the same as brain dead.

I feel we're in an information vacuum here. I'd wait until we have more confirmed sources before drawing any conclusions.

Dani,

as DJ said: clinically dead is not equal brain dead.

Sharon has been placed on a life support system. He has suffered immense brain damage.

On Friday morning, doctors will perform a CT scan on the premier's brain, to check his condition. However, only on Sunday will doctors try to revive Sharon from his induced coma to determine the effects of the hemorrhage for the first time since it happened.

Mor-Yosef said that said Sharon's pupils were responding to light, "which means the brain is functioning."

(source)

The next medical update from the Hospital will be at 7 a.m. Friday Jerusalem time (EST+7)

Yes. Sorry about that.

Also, yes. I'm not jumping to conclusions, simply reporting what is out there. I hope no one concludes anything until it is confirmed from several reliable sources.

I'm not a doctor but it sounds like they are keeping him
alive on 'the machine' for a while until they get the
government in place. It wouldn't surprise me if we
hear that they pull the plug at the start of next week
or so. The guy had a massive brain stem stroke while
on blood thinners. He's gone.

dawnstar I just read that. Robertson is completely nuts at this point. Anyone who listens to him is an idiot and should not be allowed to vote, drive a car or interact with sane people.

Hmmm .. brain dead, but not dead.

will this drag on as long as the "death" of Arafat?

Man, I'd love to be in Pat's head for just a few hours. What a ride that'd be.

So if a child has a stroke are they suffering the wrath as well? What about cancer? My wifes aunt died from cancer. I wonder what she did to piss god off? I wish Robertson would piss god off....

Don't worry, if he keeps talking for him as much as he has been, more than likely, he will eventually...but don't expect God to send a lightening bolt at him or anything, although it is in the relm of possibilities....
I think God just doesn't work the way that Robertson appears to think he does. he has better things to do with his time than to kill off his creation, one at a time, and well, face it, eventually, we all do things that would more than likely irk God just a tad.

The Wrath of God is not upon Prime Minister Sharon. In reality, God sees fit to call one of His own home.

PM Sharon has shown the entire world that there is no such thing as negotiations with militant Palestinians. He had ordered Israelis from settlements in the Gaza and West Bank because there is a bigger picture most of the world can't see because they are narrow-minded.

The settlements was a shield that was being used by these people (Palestinians). Now that the sheild is gone, the Palestinians will be fully exposed to the wrath which is coming to them. The world hasn't seen nothing yet and when they do, they'll be powerless to stop it.

May the God of Israel bless Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, his family, his cabinet and the entire nation of Israel.

Robertson is a disgrace and an utter embarrassment to every Christian American.

I find it odd that people are saying that there is no one who could replace Sharon. Shimon Peres moved to Kadima along with Sharon, he is more than capable of being Israel's PM. The Nobel Peace Prize recipient along with Yitzhak Rabin, why would he not be able to be Israel's leader once more? Even Netanyahu would be able to lead the Israeli people regardless of how hardline he is.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Olmert remain in charge but that's doubtful.

Maybe it'll end up as Netanyahu vs. Amir Peretz in March?

All parties in pretty much in agreement that a new PM will take charge then, and I don't think Shimon Peres will rally the troops, so I'd guess one of those two I mentioned above.

Well, whoever it is, hopefully things in that region will progress well.

I knew Robertson was going to say something like that.....

As far as Isreal, in the short term I'm not sure this'll have much effect. I think whoever takes over will try to keep Sharon's vision alive for a little while longer. In the long term.....we'll see....

I could be wrong-nah(hehe)-but maybe they mean replace him on a sence of wanting/willing to make peace. Of course there are many others who could lead the country, but they may choose not to proced as Sharon has.

You can add to this the rantings of the Iranian President who is hoping for Sharon's death.
Iran President: I Hope Sharon Dies
Is there a way that we could put this gut in the same room as Robertson> Lock the door and return a week later to clean up the mess? Both of these "people" definately have a vacuum occupying the space between their ears

So in the end this man is suffering in a hospital and two raving mad men are wishing him death.

Both should be dealt with appropriately. Neither of them offers the world anything of value.

Iran is a mess only to become a bigger mess.
Robertson is why many think Christianity is a big joke.

With leaders like this both groups are doomed to fade into oblivion.

Regardless of how you feel about Israel and the Palestinians, Sharon has helped bring some stability to the situation.

don't know if anyone's posted this story yet....

they're admitting that he more than likely won't be capable of returning to office.....

www.haaretz.com...

I'm surprised Robertson is saying what he is....he should be silently praying that he lives...fits into his aganda quite nicely, sever head wound, miraculaous recovery, returns to power, hey....it's the anti-christ!!

I cannot believe a lot of what I am reading here.

First Robertson should be locked up in a looney bin he is just a nut job.

2nd Someone should shoot the president of iran for his recent statements which include Islam will rule the world and now he hopes the man dies?

I know saying shoot someone sounds harsh, but it just gets my goat when people can so callous when it comes to a human tragedy such as this. :shk:
