There's no defense for this. A national news organization (CNN) defaces an image of the Vice President Cheney during a televised speech.

article

Excerpt:

At 11:04:45 AM ET Monday CNN was airing Vice President Dick Cheney's speech live from the American Enterprise Institute in Washington -- when a large black 'X' repeatedly flashed over the vice president's face!

CNN=Communist News Network or Clinton News Network.
Turner is the secretary-general.

From drudge:

My suspicion is that CNN was trying to top CBS's picture of Bush with "snipers wanted" running as a caption.

You think?

Trash TV and political media bias at it's best.

I thought it was a Promo for the X-box 360..

On the other hand..you think it might just have been a couple of people
in the control room, "having fun"?

Exactly. Fox may air people's opinions that some may feel are slanted, but I've never seen them lower themselves to the level of CNN or CBS.

Real news people of the past must be spinning in their graves over trash like this.

Oh, and I was waiting for the first pitiful attempts at defending CNN's actions, and we already have that with the explanation that someone in the control room was "just having fun". Very weak...

Well its about time the major news networks started to regain their morality and have come to the realization that this administration has done NOTHING but harm the USA. Badly planned post war, huge mismanagement of mine ur money, compromising the integrity of our nation for the benefit of the few. Just to name some.

Mr. Cheney doesnt deserve the freedom that he had maliciously used to get back at a well meaning Diplomat who called the administration on their lie, by going after his wife a member of his family, last time I checked thats mafia tactics.

Awww what's the big deal ? It is possible it was human error.
I for one couldn't care less but I do see where U are coming from centurion in that someone is trying to push their personal opinion on the public like that, if in fact it was intended.

I myself prefer skynews' subtlety though

Maybe it's because he is so eXtreme!

Kowabunga dude!

There is a certain poetic irony about using Drudge to complain about about bias and lies in the media. I Googled, but couldn't find this story any where else, so until then, I really can't believe it. Drudge has lied too many times in the past to be a reliable source of information.

Why bother? It's more fun watching you blow a gasket and assert an angry overt political conspiracy of the highest magnitude over what Drudge describes as a series of X's each lasting less than a second creating a 'subliminal effect.'

Kind of like the view finder in my camcorder, which prompts me to seek human brains for nourishment anytime I accidentally turn on the 'center/stabilize' function.

Of course a multi-million dollar international corporation that exists to sell advertising to top accounts like BOEING, DOW CHEMICAL, LOCKHEED MARTIN, BRITISH PETROLEUM, The UNITED STATES TELECOMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATION and CONOCOPHILLIPS sits around and just thinks up ways to purposefully defame Defense/Oil Baron Cheney.

It's what multinational corporations do. Play pranks.

I really think you fellers have stumbled on the smoking gun here.

Drudge? You mean www.sodomizelittleboysisgood.com? These people have made reports that the priests molesting little boys was not their fault but satans... Is this like "Officer it isn't my fault, I dropped the knife seven times in his heart after I caught him cheating with my girlfriend." And Drudge supporting me.

It is a message from heaven, Cheney will resign in the next two months....

no, seriously, It couldn't be a technical error or something. it's too danged blatant to be done on purpose....

I'd say more, but I am afraid that secret service would be knocking on my door.....but, well, na, better not joke in such a manner.

I dont see anything wrong with it. I think it may have been something "divine"...like..."we dont know how it got there...it was just there..."

"Our vice president"? He's not mine. Sorry.

By the way, Fox and other stations have taken to not reporting anything at all. Thats omission of the news. Thats ignorant, un American and not jornalism.

Its time to get somebody worthy and respectable in this government again to run things the American way.

And this has to do with CNN putting X's on the screen... how?

What you just posted is simply your opinion of Cheney.

I'm think'n someone will get canned for it. I betcha they're already looking for a scapegoat.

I am a Democrat and I want to make it clear that I think CNN is in fact disrespecting the people of the United States of America and their Goverment.

This is seen around the world and I believe this only helps our enemies.

Cheney is not worthy of respect. He does not respect US.

It was a little tacky for CNN to do this, and not up to par...i give you that.

Anyone who can lie for a living is NOT worthy of respect. Abuser and lier.
No, i'm not holding anything back this morning.

Brings to mind all the snickering and laughter about Monica and Clinton...how degrading...Sure, Bill brought it on himself, nevertheless, they made him the laughing stock of the world.

Here we have an evil crotchety old man, a warmonger satanist. A cross on his mug isnt that big of a deal, really.

Yeah, Ofcourse.

Fox News can not be Compared to ANY of the other News Networks, because it has nothing to do with News, but it has everything to do with Propaganda. And that is something FAR MORE Dangerous then any X on the Screen on the Vice-Presdients Face...

Fox News reported about war even before the war. They reported that Saddam will bomb the dams and flood Iraq, or that he will detonate the napalm and that he will use chemical weapons on US troops. Thats why Fox News journalists reported with gas masks from Iraq. You didnt understand what they were saying, but what the hell! Its the effect that counts! Look Bush has right - Saddam has weapons of mass destruction! And look, Fox then found all sort of WMD's in Iraq; they found soliders with barrels filled with chemical weapons, then rockets full of sarin, then plutonium, then mobile laboratories. Bush couldnt find WMD's in Iraq, so Fox found them for him! And when other media denied reports about any WMD's and when even the White House denied reports of WMD's In Iraq, Fox didnt deny. Fox didnt deny the report that all 55 ex-Iraqi leaders are hiding in Syria; they found most of them in Iraq. And that Iraq got uranium from Nigeria. On 9th of April 2003, when the statue of Saddam was being demolished, Fox reported HUGE CROWDS; there were maybe 200 people and US soldiers.

And the result is scary. Most of the Fox viewers belive that Saddam is connected to Al-Qaeda and that US troops found WMD's in Iraq. Manipulation was sussessfull! Yes, Americans that watch Fox News are completely disinformed. For mind control and brainwashing you dont need CIA anymore - you just need Fox TV!

How?

I mean, seriously. I hear this same tired arguement all the time.

[fill in the blank] will help our enemies around the world! Oh No!

If you can tell me how 3 subliminal X's help our enemies, I swear to God, I'll shut up now. And let me head you off at the pass right here - Disrepectful?
Does that mean David Letterman is helping our enemies? How about Leno? How about Jon Stewert?

Frankly, I'd be happy if our enemies had nothing better to do than sit around their living rooms, and watch CNN - yet somehow, I get the feeling they're too busy building bombs and sharpening their knives to care.

Sorry, as much as I'd like sit here and feign outrage with you guys, and rub gravel through my hair in shock and remorse - because of some CNN programmer's act of civil disobediance - I have a switft boat to catch.

Disrispect "my foot"

Disrespecting is not reporting the real news. Disrespecting is following the Dick and George agenda and perpetuating the lies...

WE REPORT YOU DECIDE. i did decide long ago, nothing but lies and propaganda. That is not considered news.

I cant imagine how every comedian in the past made fun constantly of every president, good or bad...and you know what? It was funny. Thats right. Tricky Dicky, Kennedy, it didnt matter what party it was. It was the norm. NOW, this saintly crowd frowns upon such acts as possible "terrorism".
right. That is what made this such a great country.

Dick Cheney is crotchety and evil. A cross doesnt begin to represent anything at all.

Well as somebody who works in Broadcast Television, I can tell you that is a pretty easy mistake. It was probably just the work experience kid playing around with some buttons.

And before you start, I don't work for CNN.

Having said that, it was what, a few flashing X's? it is not as if an animated characature of Bush came on screen, pulled down his pants and flopped his privates infront of the VP. Although if that happened, i'd probably still just be laughing.

Actually if you lighten the picture up and fiddle with the contrast, there's more than an "X" there. There's a bunch of words at the bottom.

If you ask me, it looks like a mistake. And I have a hard time believing that anyone would do that deliberately, thinking that it would influence someone, either directly, or 'subliminally'.
