Behavior is partly dictated by genetics. There's an entire field devoted to the study of this, aptly called behavior genetics. In fact for most behaviors 50% of the variation can be explained by genetics. The nature/nurture debate has been over for a long time and the conclusion was that they both matter. Therefore, there is something genetic that predisposes people to homosexuality, as can be seen in recent studies that have shown fundamental differences in the gross anatomy of the brain between hetero- and homosexuals. This is something that would have had to occurred during the development of the fetus and not something that would be caused by a simply choice.

The theory you are espousing is just more of this:

Point your finger at mommy cause she sat you on the potty crooked.

color of skin = I could get tanned or even paint myself.

plumbing male/female = For a prize it is a choice.

identity of mom and dad =My mom and dad like to change identity a lot. Role play.
# of brothers and sisters =Identity is pretty much a choice.

size of hand =genetic true !

blue eyes =Contact lenses

crime=Crime is not so much your choice, then it is the choice of society.

homosexuality= You can't choose to fall in love. It happens. How you handle it that is a choice. Although I wouldn't want to be in a position to deny being in love. That will definitely cause a depression.

farting in church thereby sitting in your own pew=I fart all the time and everywhere. Not once I sad in my pew. You talk from experience ?

religion=Try and get born in an amish community. I'll bet it isn't really an option to choose you do not want to play the game.

graduate school=Tell that to those that didn't make. what ever the reason.

get the picture here. Why did you post one ?

the first list has nothing to do with your behavior. It doesn't ?

the second list has everything to do with your behavior. Does it ?

My conclusion :

You present yourself with this post. It isn't really a good presentation.
I would label it. A narrow minded and uneducated post.

I hope you do better next time. ( No offense )

To start out, I want to say that I am not a Christian, or even religious for that matter, so spare me that attack.

Anyways, My mom's best friend has identical twin sons. One is gay, one is not. That to me says that being gay has nothing to do with genetics, as these two people have the EXACT same genes. Instead, perhaps it is a psychological reaction to experiences or a traumatic event.

Any way, this kind of cements it as far as I am concerned, and to be honest, I was always of the opinion that being gay was a genetic condition.

Not another one of these threads
and i hate these people who claim its because of a psychological reaction to experiences or a traumatic event. That is just ignorant.

Put it this way. I have one brother, and three sisters. My brother is gay, and so is one of my sisters. My mums side of the family, which is quite a big family (irish) has a few gay people. So, i think it does have something to do with genetics/genes.

Disease ! Really ?

How contagious is it ? Should I stay inside the house ? Can I get inoculated ?
Can I be immune for it. Should I call the hospital whenever I see a homosexual, so the can place them in quarantine. What are the chances for me getting ill or my children ?

Is it a virus or bacterial infection ?

(Intended use of Sarcasm )

Did you consider that;

Perhaps both are gay and the other has yet to come to terms with it?

If homosexuality is genetic, shouldn't they be extinct by now ?

If it isn't genetic and is not a choice either.... what causes people to be gay ?

All i know is, on my mums side of the family, we have many gays. Make of that what you will.

Well, i know it is not a choice. It about as much of a choice as me being attracted and marrying my wife.

Yes I know. I've also got a gay family member. I've spend lot of time with a few guys when I was still a teen, They acted gay. Not over the top, but you could notice it. Although they didn't know they were gay yet.

Som research shoes an elevated number of homosexual behavior among animals because of chemicals we added into their environment.

However...

That suggests that the bible couldn't be mentioning homosexuality. Or did they also have heavy industries back then ?

Personal opinion :
I think being gay has its origin for a part in genetics and hormones where yoiu are exposed to during development as a child and fetus could be responsible. I can not choose to be gay. It disgusts me.( They idea of a sexual relationship with another man. ) I can not choose to fall in love with a girl either. It just happens.

I would call it a disorder, but only because of the natural way to reproduce asks for a male and a female. However... You do not have to be in love to reproduce.
That kind of wipes the disorder part from the table.Love isn't necessary at all actually. There are lots of animals that hump never to see each other again.

What I think is most important.Gay, straight, black or white... In the end we are all people with the same need of companionship, sex, love. Does it really matter where you find this love in the first place ? I would think not. I think it is hypocrite to deny someone his needs ( or hers ), just because it is icky and abnormal.

Although it is of all ages and a percentage of people always turn out to be gay. That would mean it is quite natural to be gay.

The thing that annoys me, are these haters, who obviously think they are physic and can read minds, and know who everyone should be attracted too. All this rubbish about its not right because we are put on this earth to reproduce. Well, i am married and have no children, and we are not going to have children, so, is that wrong. In fact, should we only be having sex when we want to have children, and not just for fun.

Also, these people keep on bringing up this anal sex crap, like every gay person has anal sex, which is rubbish. Don't these people think that straight couples have anal sex? Its just rediculous!

Just like everything, homosexuality is part genetic. Modern heritability studies have shown that in males at least 30% of the variation can be explained by genetics, while in females the genetic influence explains at least 50-60% of the variation.

Weird. What could be the cause of the enormous difference between male and female homosexual genetic origins ?

I'm not really sure. Usually when there are differences between the sexes it is because the sex chromosomes are involved. However, if that was true then we should expect heritability to be higher in males than females.

Although, this is just me thinking out loud here, if homosexuality were an additive trait, with the majority of the genes influencing it on the X chromosome, then that could explain why females have twice the heritability rate of males, since they have twice the number of X chromosomes.

That does actually make sense. Thanks

Anyway it doesn't change the fact that we are all people. There has already been a genealogy project in the past and It proved it didn't work.
