How can Pakistan be on such list, i doubt theyr military without nukes used could confront UK or any western powers, i dont know about their equipment, but UK, French, Italy, Spain all got carriers, not to mention UK and French both got nukes that i would believe by far are more superior than Pakistan ones, so i would really drop Pakistan out and replace it with Spain and raise UK's position.

the sheer siz eof the pakistani armed forces should be noted.

they dont have a bad airforce. F-16s and mirage IIIs. + many other less capable fighters.

and why would the tech in nukes be more superior? you would only need to develop more advanced warheads if your planning to make them MIRV or something like that

The U.K. is, militarily, the second-most powerful country on the Earth. Whatever "list" anyone starts, it should have USA first and UK second. The UK is the only other country aside from the United States with a military that can actually go into an actual war and fight. No other country has this, because msot European countries don't have any economic ability to support such a thing, or they have no interest at the moment.

Japan has a great self-defense force, however, but it is not capable of actually going over to Iraq and fighting, I don't think. China is working hard at their military and will probably be up there within the next few decades, especially if the EU lifts their weapons ban (which I really hope they don't).

Taiwan also has a pretty good defensive force. And South Korea.

these countries dont have a lot of troop transports.

russias carrier is old and maybe unseaworthy. and teir landing craft are built for european waters. short trips on the european coastline

indias carrier can only carry 15 or something harriers.

I am Indian but there is no way i would rate India above Russia, France & UK..and Pakistan being compared to the likes of Japan & Italy is not correct.

Without the help of the US you have no chance. If you enter via sea, you have to deal with German air force and the German navy – which is a good navy. The German navy would sink your entire navy before you would even make it to the coast. If you would enter via land, you would have to deal the German land forces (including armored forces). They would beat you before you would even make it to the first major city.

You have a bigger chance to win in a lottery.

And huge urban areas... You think Fallujah was bad? Try taking over Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt am Main, Duesseldorf, Essen, Nuremburg, Dresden etc.

Let me just put it this way..
If India and Germany were neighbours.. India would be better off than Germany..In any scenario: defensive or offensive..

Actually.. India has better access to Germany now than Germany has to India..(again assuming all countries in between and around are completely neutral and allow free passage)..

SAme with Pakistan and UK/France/Germany..
If any of these countries were placed side by side Pakistan they'd win..
Also UK and France can carry out a decent conventional war against Pakistan even if they( and Pakistan) are not placed side by side..

Actually why don't we place the(any) two countries in question and run a battle scenario under the judgement of some neutrals.. that would be very informative..
I can judge for any non- India/Pakistan/China conflict..
and I can field India in any conflict..
I'm talking ACTUAL numbers..battalions/sqdrns/fleets etc. etc..

why do people underestimate south korea. they have a large military.

they train with americans american style warfare american style equipment.

they should rank somewhere in the top five


france should be lower on the list. 260,000 troops. with mondern equipment is good but its still very small.


here is my list with the reasons.

1.USA-everyone should know why.

2.China- huge airforce huge navy huge army.

its not just huge its got heaps of modern equpment. you could call it a army with-in a army.

Last major war fought: 1979 sino-vietnamese war.

3. Russia. large stockpile of soviet weapons. large nuclear arsenal. large army

Last war: chechnya(on going)

4. South korea-A mini american army. with the economy to back.

5. india- lots of russian equipment large army. one carrier

6.Britain. -Very well trained. good quality equipment. large army.

7. pakistan. very large, decent equipment

8. France- its the french. very good indegenious equipment.

9. germany- has very high quailty equipment. good fighting reputation

10. israel.-very high fighting capbility
