These drones are US military. They're looking for something probably terrorist related or actively defending against a potential threat. I get that they don't want a panic so they're keeping it hush hush but we've seen many times that evil doers are caught when the public is informed and average citizens see something and report it. The Boston Bombers , the DC Sniper, now this Luigi Mangione.

The DOD says they are aware of the drones, and that's pretty much it. That's it. End of story.
We also have few details or answers from anyone at the FBI, the DHS, the Biden-Harris White House or any other so-called public servant or national security official.
Apparently, under Biden, they don't really feel they need to answer you. They probably don't even know, which makes it even worse under Biden.

Wow I didn’t notice this story until today, seeing this thread is a few days old now.
Here is Jeff Van Drew, NJ Congressman, R, saying “very high qualified responsible confidential sources” told him “Iran” has launched a “Mothership.” Should I believe him? He says it is, “the real deal,” a “clear and present danger,” and that they “need to be shot down.”
Fox News Clip:

New Jersey Rep. Jeff Van Drew said Wednesday that "very qualified" and "reliable" sources believe the mystery drones populating the Garden State's skies are originating from an Iranian "mothership" parked off the U.S. East Coast, a claim the Pentagon subsequently denied.
"Here is the real deal," the GOP lawmaker told Fox News' Harris Faulkner.
"I'm on the Transportation Committee, on the Aviation Subcommittee, and I've gotten to know people. And from very high sources, very qualified sources, very responsible sources. I'm going to tell you… Iran launched a mothership probably about a month ago that contains these drones. That mothership is off the east coast of the United States of America."

This is OUR military. Without OUR taxpayer dollars, they wouldn't last a month. The Pentagon needs to tell us what is going on, RIGHT NOW.

This is why I mentioned the use of "cold-gas thrusters" for propulsion/maneuvering; essentially compressed air. The air supply could be stored in tanks designed and constructed of a material that is, itself, minimally radar/IR visible.
A "Vanta Black"-type of external coating would effectively reduce the craft's optical visibility, at least at night.
I agree with the radar part, but I was thinking in terms of visual as in you see something moving with no apparent engine/system to make it move. As far as cold-gas engines, they are somewhat limited, and just like any engine, they need a fuel source to expand to create the thrust. All that doesn't help or hurt picking up on radar, but it does help with thermal detectors.

Tesla proposed using cold gas thrusters on a version of its yet-to-be released sports coup model. The thrusters would allow the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 in just over one second, and potentially, even levitate for brief periods.
The thrusters would be supplied with compressed air from an on-board carbon fiber tank pressurized to something like 3,000 PSI.
Takes a good amount of power to do this.
After all, many, if not most, air compressors on the market for home use are electrically powered.
