An advanced LAV (Lighter than Air Vehicle) utilizing a rigid, or semi-rigid, aerodynamic outer shell, and incorporating internal cold gas thrusters for propulsion and maneuvering would easily "stay up in the sky" while having "no visible means of propulsion".

Laws of physics intact.

A hard ballon with thrusters would be visible, no?

Folks, this is Project Bluebeam stuff. Precursors for the Big Fake-a-roo.

Depends on what you mean by "visible".

LAV's can be constructed using materials that are all but invisible to radar. Which can make them very difficult to shoot down using radar-guided weapons. They can also be very difficult to target using infrared tracking since, unless there is a heat source on board (combustion engine, radiothermo-electric generator; RTG), the vehicle itself will read essentially the same temperature as the air around it.

This is why I mentioned the use of "cold-gas thrusters" for propulsion/maneuvering; essentially compressed air. The air supply could be stored in tanks designed and constructed of a material that is, itself, minimally radar/IR visible.

A "Vanta Black"-type of external coating would effectively reduce the craft's optical visibility, at least at night.

It was supposed to happen before November, so the US election would be cancelled due to a grave national emergency.

I haven't been following this story as much as I should but has the military gone up to check these things out?

The videos I have seen don't show any jets or helicopters following these things.

Why the lack of interest by the military?

I agree with the radar part, but I was thinking in terms of visual as in you see something moving with no apparent engine/system to make it move. As far as cold-gas engines, they are somewhat limited, and just like any engine, they need a fuel source to expand to create the thrust. All that doesn't help or hurt picking up on radar, but it does help with thermal detectors.

they had better share what they know, of folks will take things into their own hands and start shooting at them. If they are "friendly" and manned, that would be bad. But it's not like they are hiding. everyone seems to have no issues seeing them. Pretending to be inept may have worked for the white house over the last few years, but it's not going to fly much longer.

Not that I'd put it past them, but why put navigation lights on these drones if they're trying to plant the seeds of a fake alien invasion?

It’s a matter of time when one of these things crashes and a group of kids discover it, it will be either man made or not. That’s the gamble.

These things are strange, there is something really off with the lights and sounds, and why are they all so different from each other?
I'm sure there are stacks of misidentifications but still something seems off.

I saw something similar two nights ago; it was either huge and hauling ass, or close but silent. Either way didn't make sense to my perceptions. If I has to guess, I think it was close and about car sized. It gave me an uneasy feeling and left my missus upset.

Why doesn't anyone in New Jersey own a drone they could go fly around the strange drones and get video?

In regard to the one gentleman looking for Federal Funding to study this phenomenon, wouldn't that moey be better divested into insuring everyones enerfy bill to heat their homes were covered?

I'm down South right now and it's not nearly as cold.

We did our best to buy the most cost efficent options to keep our hom ewrm this year, and we're still frickin' freezing.

We live at 104% below the Federal Poverty line so I like it's amusing how a little flyover just makes certain people want more money from the Federal Government for personal pet projects.

I'd be curious to discover what the monthly averages for gas and electricty are for the residents in this region and how many homes are without power right now.

I say this because one of the sites I use shows an immense amount of lighting all over the East Coast while everything West of the Mississippi is still relatively dark and silent.

Just an interesting observation.

And I didn't need Millions from the Government to do it.

Pretty cut and dry that there is still a mismanagment and misappropriation of requests by certain jurisdictions for superfoulous things.

Waseful spending and Government Bloat you say?

Balance the bedget they cl;aim?

Pffft.

Wonder if we are witnessing some internal rift in the US military?

How do you not have on going helicopter or drone patrols?

What happened to the civilian air patrol?

I think we need a drone army, maybe even a few r/c plane hobbyist as well.

I know there’s several posts on the NJ drones, so I’ll post this question here.

Wasn’t there a video not that long ago, maybe this last summer, of “balls” or drones incoming from someplace in space entering Earths atmosphere? Like hundreds.

…ohh and what about that incident at the mall in Florida? Kinda went away didn’t it…

Edit:the other drone thread is closed.

I'm surprised no one hasn't shot one down..

I would bet someone right now in their backyard is building their own Arduino guided missile. 🚀

These drones are US military. They're looking for something probably terrorist related or actively defending against a potential threat. I get that they don't want a panic so they're keeping it hush hush but we've seen many times that evil doers are caught when the public is informed and average citizens see something and report it. The Boston Bombers , the DC Sniper, now this Luigi Mangione.
