This government won't be overthrown it will collapse under the weight of its own BS and corruption.

Maybe, but given the size of it's majority it's unlikely to happen soon.

The last Tory government lasted 14 years of BS and coruption.

Quite how this might be any business of Musk evades me.

His mother was English, born in Liverpool, so to be fair, when so many US citizens claim to be Irish, after multiple generations of the ancestors who were actually born in Ireland...I'd say he has a stronger link to Britain, than most 'Irish' Americans have to the emerald isle!!🤣🫣

MY MISTAKE - It was Elon's grandmother who was born in Britain. I was listening to a live radio phone in yesterday, with Elon's dad, and he was talking about his own mother born here, and why his son is interested in what he called: "the Mother country of the English speaking world"
He sounded genuinely passionate about his British heritage to me, I reckon I'd enjoy a pint with him!

She was born in Canada, not Liverpool.

What's unconstitutional about British citizens, or others, calling for another GE?
Don't us Brits call for the same 'overthrow' of leaders we consider dictators?

Musk isn't a UK citizen and the post was about the King unilaterally desolving parliament.

So not sure the relevance.

Starmer has problems internally as well as externally , the internal ones are the most problematic with the resignation of 20 Notts Councillors losing him that Council and the resulting statement they released is damming but added to the brewing Back Bench revolt by dissatisfied Labour MPs and the promised revelations about Kier due in Lord Ashcroft's Red Knight Starmer biography due to be released in the Spring the next few months will be filled with peril for the Dear Leader.

"I believe the concentration of power in the hands of fewer people and the abolition of local democracy through the current proposals of super councils is nothing short of a dictatorship, where local elected members, local people, local residents will have no say over the type and level of service provided in their area," he said.

Yep, my mistake, it was his Grandmother born in Britain - his dad's mother.
I was listening to an interview with Elon's dad on the radio yesterday, he's pretty passionate about his British heritage, so I can certainly understand why his son also is!👍

*Edit
He's still got more genetic links to Britain than many in the millions of US citizens who call themselves Irish!🤪

The coffee mug I am drinking out of has more generic links to Ireland that some people who call themselves Irish.

Still works wonders for Guinness exports and sales of leprechaun hats so in most cases i don't see the harm.

Given the length of time he has had to prepare in opposition the start of this government has been appalling, however I don't see much chance of change given the size of the majority and if even Stammer did go as PM who amongst current labour cabinet would you want to replace him?

As Harold Macmillan said when asked what were the biggest problems for a statesman his reply was 'Events, dear boy, events' , Starmer has a lot of events coming up including the growing calls for an independent inquiry into the Oldham grooming gangs with Labour wanting Oldham Council leader Arooj Shah to organise it which to many stinks of a cover up.

He may have a large Parliamentary majority in numbers but without the support of his MPs that counts for little , he's losing support among the grass roots members with party membership falling last year and whispers say there may be a plot within the PLP to depose him after a poll last year found over 60% of people said he's doing a bad job.

It should be an interesting and eventful year.

Probably, but whoever might replace him will probably be worse.

Labour is not exactly packed with good PM material.

Arguably his biggest strength right now in holding on to job is the unpopularity. Any serious contender is going to want to some of the storm from the first 6 months has died down. I think he will make it to at least half way through the parliament, get all the unpopular policies though and then they might switch to someone more electable.

You could well be correct however and one more bad scandal or dropped ball changes everything.

It pretty bad isn't it.

If you look back till the last time Labour came to power , even if you completely disagreed with their policies, there was still a lot of big name MPs who you could have seen in the top spot.

Most the current lot I couldn't pick out a line up.

Streeting or Rayner? Burnham was the bookies' favourite but he's not currently an MP.

At the moment the job is a poisoned chalice.

If they could parachute Burnham into a constituency he might be there best bet. Not being part of the current government would be a plus.

Streeting is pretty smart but I don't think comes across as electable. Rayner I think would shoot herself in the foot during any campaign.

A good set of eyebrows never hurt a politician.

See Dennis Healey as a case study.
