Because I respect the "insider" knowledge and honest reporting of journalist/investigator "Sundance", his dislike of Pam Bondi gives me a slight pause.

Further thoughts... if Gaetz goes right back to his seat even though he "turned in a letter of resignation" then I would lean hard into it was a game to see which republicans were all talk when it came to unity.

I wanted to find out if Majority Leader John Thune is a friend or foe. If he cleared the way for Matt Gaetz to be appointed to AG by Trump during the first vacation of Congress in 2025 (they only work 119 days @ year), we'd know he's a FRIEND.

I'm not saying Trump is playing 5D chess or anything. But I did tell my husband when he was first nominated "Mark my words. He'll never make it. I think Trump knows this and has someone waiting in the wings. He's not stupid, and MG is political napalm."

That said, I would have loved to see him make it through and blow DC up!
I really don't know anything about Bondi.

It doesn't take a genius to know that the Democrats and their alies in the media and establishment Republicans will try and stop all of Donald Trump administration appointments. If the Trump administration doesn't have more then one person selected for every position they would be foolish.

Well, I'm really pleased to see Bondi get the nod, and I'm also pleased that Gaetz bowed out.

Because of what I do for a living, I have to endure "ethics" training every single year and sign off on it swearing I understand it. One of the elements of this training is about "Conflicts of Interest" (COI). So, what does COI have to do with Matt Gaetz? Nothing, but it's an element of this COI training which is relevant to Gaetz. What gets pounded into our skulls every year in this training is...it doesn't matter if there's actually a true conflict of interest, what matters is if there's even the "appearance" of a conflict of interest. Appearances, in many cases, mean almost as much as the actual act itself.

Whether Gaetz is actually guilty of the crimes he is alleged to have taken part in or not isn't the point. What is the point is the fact that he allowed himself to get involved in a situation where there could even be the 'appearance' of such a crime. And, this wasn't something which happened in the distant past, like 25 years ago; it was something which happened less than 3 years ago, so it's not some wild college party from decades ago. That's not the type of thing I think any of us want on the resume of someone who is the head of the DOJ. Sorry, but it's not.

And, if Trump truly wants to drain the swamp, as he says (and I believe he does), then Trump should be happy about Gaetz stepping down too. Bondi is a solid pick (possibly even better than Gaetz).

I have to concede, I had not researched enough about Gaetz when I applauded his selection the other day. However, upon learning more, I've since changed my support of him, and I thank him for doing the right thing and stepping back from the job.
