It has been over 20 years since Mike Tyson last fought. Now, he is 58 years old and fighting youtuber Jake Paul who is only 27.

Tyson isn't what he used to be but I think he will defeat Jake in the end.

8 two minute rds will be better for Mike's stamina than the usual 3 minute rds for 10 rds.

Live on netflix.

I am psyched to see this fight. Tyson looks amazing in practice. I think that he has a good chance of wining. But we shall see.

Forgetting his opponent "influencer" opponent for a moment, Tyson is flirting with disaster getting in the ring with 'anyone' at his age. Boxers take a metric # ton of physical abuse in a fight, and as the body ages that abuse doesn't go away as fast, if at all.

However, Tyson said it best in the recent weeks. He said he knows he will never reach the level of his greatness (I'm paraphrasing here), but the 'killer' instinct was still inside him and would never ebb. He had some other words, but I think those capture it. Maybe the adrenaline rush is in there somewhere too, but whatever. He realizes he will die doing what he was "programmed" at birth to do. He's like a pitbull. You can train a pitbull to be a nice dog, but at heart they're killers. Tyson is a pitbull. He may be old, and he may tame(er), but he's still a pitbull.

This "influencer" (I'm not going to say his name because I loathe these people) would immediately be fatally injured by a modern comparable weight fighter. This is all for show...and for that part, I hope Tyson exterminates this "kid"...he's no match for a Tyson, and he would have been laughed out of the building when Tyson was in his prime.

BUT...Tyson did say one thing the other day which was chilling. Very chilling. He said..."this kid is a manufactured killier."..."and I am a natural born killer". I don't care how old you are, if Tyson ever said that to me...I'd be afraid...and I ain't afraid of nothin'!! That's some raw danger right there, and this punk kid better remember...these guys kill people. They're not just making U-toob videos.

Tyson looks good in the ring for his age. He's still got that forward, head down stance and that wicked body shot, with a right/left cross. He's still got a lot of power coming into the hookup, and he's got the legs. When Tyson throws those big mitts, his weight is forward, and all his body is behind it. This young kid knows none of this. And he's gonna' find out.

If anyone knowledgeable about boxing has ever closely watched Tyson fight, everyone knows the crushing body punches he throws, but there's something else Tyson does which isn't so noticeable. He leans into his opponent, so not only is his opponent having to defend themselves, they also having to hold Tyson's weight up as he leans on them. He puts a lot of weight on his opponent, forcing his opponent to hold him up at the same time as fighting back against is brutal punching.

Tyson got famous for knockouts, but what you didn't see was the reason why Tyson got those opportunities. He got those opportunities because his opponents were trying to recover their balance and strength to stand upright after Tyson had been hanging on them for several rounds.

Oddly, using your opponent's weight, and your weight, against your opponent is an old Chinese tactic. In fact, this same concept weighs heavily in many martial arts...use your opponent's energy against them.

Tyson is tough, so he's hard to hurt when he's inside. He's also fast, and those short Tyson punches are brutal, especially to the lower body; they take a fighter's wind so he can't breathe. Tyson wins because he tires his opponents out so quickly. His energy in close is explosive, and he doesn't stop punching. Sooner or later Tyson's opponents tire and drop their guard. Tyson usually sees this a round or two in advance. He keeps setting his opponent up into the same scenario, and then when there's enough time on the clock, he backs up and uses that speed to come in for the kill.

That's a true "killer".

This U-toob punk doesn't have any of that. He's a flashy puncher, but once Tyson gets hurt (and focused as a result), he will annihilate this punk...IF he wants to. BUT...then there's the money angle, and the BS pre-fight agreement stuff. Again, this is all for show. But one thing is sure...if this kid gets a lucky shot in on Tyson and makes him mad...Tyson will go "animal" on him.

Old man or not, Tyson is still a force to be reckoned with...especially with kids like this.

I have watched video of Tyson training recently. He looks very slow. I think Mike is sandbagging. I think he's going to shock the boxing world by loping along for two rounds and then releasing the Kraken. I predict Tyson win by KO in the first 30 seconds of the fourth round.

I don’t know, he looks plenty fast to me. In fact, he looks down right scary.

I am very tempted to lay a bet when I get home tomorrow night. I'll have to check the odds and see how good they are and if its worth it. I too think he is gonna crush this kid. He has brought up the mans dead daughter...that alone is enough for him to wreck the kid.

They're using 14-oz gloves; for this to be anything other than an exhibition match, they should be 10-oz, as is the regular. I use 20-oz for heavy bag work and 16 for training and sparring. Yes, you can turn up the force a bit with heavier gloves, but at the cost of being able to feel where your hands are properly. Also, two-minute rounds? What is that all about? This has all the signs of an exhibition to a draw where everyone saves face with no real winner aside from their wallets.

I'll always remember this video. This 26 year old guy goes up against this 60 something year old boxer. The old guy lays him out with a solid left. This will be how the Tyson Paul fight will go. Except that Tyson hits harder.

Paul told Tyson that he was going to put him in his grave... like Tyson's daughter.

I'm pretty sure Mike isn't doing this for money.

He doesn't need any.

I'll bet you an ear that Mike may not play by the rules in this match...

This was exactly what I was eluding to. Mike is going to try to hurt this kid. He dun messed up bringing up anything personal with an animal like tyson. He is a very nice guy...until you piss him off. I imagine he is a bit more than pissed at those comments...

Mike doesn't "need" to make any money now. Hell, his weed thing is exploding and looks like an extra.... $50,000,000 going into his bank?

Paired with him not wanting to tarnish his record with an off fight 20 years after he stopped fighting.

He doesn't need the money.

And seems rather pissed.

I'm just a human being and can be suckered in to a thing or two even at my age.

So let's see what happens.

I'd recommend against it. Reason being...any fight with other than standard rules, especially knockout clauses, mean it's not a real fight and thus can go whatever way makes the promoters the most money.

A good way to get spend the rest of your life wearing a helmet and drooling is to talk about someone's daughter. An even better way to do this in the first 30 seconds of a meeting is to talk about someone's DEAD daughter. And, an absolutely perfect way to get your Birth Certificate CANCELLED all together is...to talk about Mike Tyson's dead daughter!!! Especially right before you're supposed to get in the ring with the guy!

Holyfield got off easy compared to what this guy has coming. He'll be lucky to leave the ring...at all.

I don't have Netflix, so can't watch the match sadly.
But I sincerely hope Tyson gives this 'young buck' a hiding for what he said about his daughter.
The man still has it.
Rainbows
Jane
PS here's a short interview Tyson did.... the man is focused...

I read somewhere that Mike wanted this to be a real fight. The Texas commission had 8 two minute rds and the 14 oz gloves as a stipulation. The two minute rds help Tyson. He won't gas as easily.

PS Did Jake Paul really say that about Tyson's daughter? If so, what a POS.

I was lucky enough to see the 2nd Frank Bruno Mike Tyson back in 96 at the MGM Grand. I flew from London to Vegas on my own as my 2 mates pulled out and it was the greatest 4 nights of my life.
I cant even remember how I got the tickets but I was not that far from the front and I could feel and hear Tysons power especially those body shots.
So 4 nights which included the fight, spending a couple of hours playing fruit machines, chatting and eating with a major Hollywood A lister at the time and playing pool with then being invited to a party by a well known motorcycle group at a huge mansion up in the Nevada hills just for starters.
Not bad for my first and only visit !

EDIT - I forgot a prediction so Tyson with a stoppage inside 3 rounds.

Agree. Paul may consider it just good drama for the TV, but I bet Mike doesn't. You don't # around with people's families and their memories, with regular folk. I feel like Tyson is a reasonable gentle soul, given his background, after all the crap he's been through and three years of prison, but that is a tiger you don't want to poke, unless you either have a death wish, or think you can survive it and get buckets of money. I wouldn't risk it for anything.

What I WILL risk is $100 and have bet it on Tyson. I wish our local book was refined enough to be on rounds, but it is what it is. Just happy to be here and know who to bet with.

You can spend USD $6.95 for a basic one-month subscription and watch it, if you want. Hey, you'd pay FAR more than that for a live streaming Jeff Beck concert....... erm....... unless I've overstepped my bounds and misguessed.
I hope you get to be here live with us tomorrow. You belong Jane. ;o)

I love that!!!

"Mike, what's your mindset going into this fight?"

Tyson: "Bad intentions".

Perfect.
