I posted where it is allowed. To much of modern politics it about keeping the norm and not following the law. It was not designed to be bogged down that is what has evolved. .

No, it has been designed to be bogged down. Or else we’d constantly have chaos with the pendulum swinging.

The right would get in power, enact everything they want to… the country would think it’s too far, then elect the left just to come in undo things, rinse and repeat.

Most of the country doesn’t want far left policies. Most of the country doesn’t want far right policies. You each get elected because there is no other option, and each time convince yourselves you should have full unadulterated reign.

I’m glad both sides just can’t take power and run a muck.

It's a fair point, but to add to that, Biden came in and wiped everything the Trump admin had done, so.... Yeah

Agreed; gridlock in Washington is a good thing.

I simply can't understand why the left is cowering under their beds right now. And why the right thinks their dreams have come true.

Cocaine mitch gates Trumps, he always did, he just like the power that GOP senate will bring, he will perpetuate his legacy if been a rino and a democrat butt kisser with Thune.

Trump now knows his enemies in the senate and is all those rinos that voted for Thune

Thirty Eight voted for THUNE... (RINO is the wrong term. The 38 are "pure breed" Republicans. True RINOs vote with Democrats more than 50% of the time.)

Newly elected Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), held a press conference today to answer questions and introduce his leadership team: Assistant Majority Leader, also called the Republican “whip” John Barrasso (R-WY), Republican Conference Chair Tom Cotton (R-AR), Republican Policy Committee Chair Shelly Moore Capito (R-WV), Republican Conference Vice Chair James Lankford (R-OK), National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Tim Scott (R-SC). Imagine that same tit for tat, but both sides have more power during their tenure.

Either way, it’s minority rule. The two parties have made it a habit to push their fiercest liberal, or conservative ruling on the masses.

The ironic part, most Americans agree we have the same issues, the argument really comes down to how we address those. But even worse, both parties focus on the obscure wedge issues every time, just because it energizes their base, while creating controversy, and the facade of sticking to their platform.

How could they have any energy or faith in their party after Hillary, Biden, and Harris? Do they basque in the glory days of when they found an incredible speaker, who was charismatic and inspiring? How did that work out for them? He proved to just be interested in the power and wealth that comes with making it to the top.

I see partisans say stuff like, “look at my opponent, they’ve been in charge for x% of x amount of time”. But I never see them recognize they’ve both been in power for 100% of the time for all of our lives. And the one thing we can all agree on is we’re not where we should be as a nation.

And rather than everyone taking a step back, and trying introspection to become sensible… The dogmatic double down.

And it will continue to do that, in slightly different but equally in pragmatic ways with each sway of the pendulum swing. It will do that until people have had enough or it all breaks.

The truth of the matter is life, in general, is good for the majority of the people. If it wasn't who wins the next election would be the least of these politicians worries.

I remember when President Trump announced he was running for President (and even before...on Rush Limbaugh) how one of his main goals was to bring America infrastructure up to standards they enjoy in some other nations. He wanted to make Airports more modern, build coast-to-coast high speed rail, and ensure every home had high-speed internet.

Then Obama began using this DOJ to attack Trump as a Russian agent. This was like pricking a balloon and letting the air out. Thank goodness Trump had good economic people and international negotiators in his administration, or his Presidency would be known for playing full-time defense against the attacks that Obama started.

Heres the way trump will get his way though. ELon talked to Thune, and promised him to primary him if he does not toe the line. Also JD vance will assume control at times in the senate to force a recess if need be.
Thunes between a rock and a hard place now.

I hope he does deliver on infrastructure, it’s been neglected for decades and likely to fail in places. But it was a campaign promise, something to be skeptical of anyone in. A lot of promises are made in running's.

And I agree, Trump has been targeted in unique ways, without any obvious justification IMO.

Thank goodness Trump had good economic people and international negotiators in his administration, or his Presidency would be known for playing full-time defense against the attacks that Obama started.

His foreign policy was good, hopefully that carry’s over into this admin. The world is a mess right now.

It’s a surprise to no one I disagree with you on economy though. The only metric one could say his first term was an economic success was immediate short term.

That said, it does look like he’s laying ground work to approach things a bit different this time, and attempt to address spending. I’m curious how that plays out.

Possibly. It depends people’s perspectives of Trump in the first year or two.

We often look at things like this only in the immediate context. And if we’re doing that, I’d agree with you.

Bit of you look at 2018, 2020, and 2022, Trump tickets didn’t perform as well.

There’s no question in my mind that Trump won, or why he won. But that doesn’t necessarily equate to all those voters being Trump die hards. I imagine quite a few are republicans who just voted for their party, and have a nuanced opinion of him and his platform, and independents siding with him over Harris.

That said, he already had the Supreme Court, and with this election got house, senate, and the office. Pretty clear the country wanted to at least see what he can do. But we shall see.

Certainly the first mid-term was heavily impacted by the Russia hoax. Literally everyday the news from local to print to cable-everywhere the Russia hoax. It was election interference. I remember. Once it was proven to be a hoax nobody looked back and thought about the negative impact that it had on the mid-terms. With all the negative propaganda taken into account, Trump did an amazing job in my opinion. I feel, to this day, Trump navigating day to day in that negative climate created by the nevertrumpers, democrats and msm goes unnoticed and under appreciated.

I wasnt thrilled with any of the options.

I think Trump leveraged keeping his mouth shut and preventing a civil war in the party for some concessions... now will Thune abide by them... dont know.

But I am guessing trump believes he has something on him or he would have pushed scott.

The vast majority of people vote based on "short term" what's in it for them and their family.

Making sacrifices now in the hope that the Earth will cool (or whatever), so our great great great grandchildren will possibly have a decent world, is not what most of us vote for.

Like the vast majority of people, I'm a selfish voter.

Trump learned from his last time around that a "Temp" ____________has all the authority a Senate Approved _________ has. He put Matthew Whitaker in as Temp A.G. after firing Jeff Sessions in 2017. Whitaker did a super job. He named a person 2 days ago to be Temp AG, while Matt Gaetz is raked over the coals...slow-walked, or whatever you call it. (A.G. Merrick Garland will be fired, or resign, on 1/20/2025.)

This is FUNNY. Senate Democrats want Elon Musk investigated for COLLUDING WITH RUSSIA!

Source: dailycaller.com...

This will have to be a FAST investigation, assuming Chuck Schumer wants to launch it, LOL.
