I checked on some details of the story, and you're correct... it's simply a fifteen minute photo op. He did little to no work (no mussing the nice suit, and no hair net for the staged hair.) The people ordering had been cleared and vetted, and the restaurant was closed to the public. They showed him how they made fries, let him fill a box or two, and chat with customers at the window.

Any real worker who showed up in a suit, no hair net, no gloves, spends time campaigning at a window... they'd have been fired within 5 minutes.
