Someone wants to suppress what is being posted here. If they shut it down after buying it, we would all go somewhere else.

The motive you're describing would explain the situation as I laid it out, but I tend to believe it's merely a hidden hand that works through (sometimes) unwitting accomplices rather than a central planner. This has been a long and slow process.

The people that want discussion stifled don't need to win arguments, they just need discussion to be impossible. Censorship, obsessive disruption, and dishonest engagement, are all valuable tools for them. Failure to recognize, call out, and/or disarm those tactics will always end up leaving a forum under siege until it capitulates to political demands or dies off.

It is definitely within the desired outcomes of those that support globalist restrictions on speech for sites like ATS to limp along impotently rather than being abandoned. You are correct. Likewise, it is within their desired outcomes that topics involving politics -that the censorship advocates themselves made political- be suppressed.

(ETA: The site doesn't cost nearly as much as what many people keep claiming. I've seen 10k cited before and I have no idea why all the crazy numbers keep getting posted. I am not speculating, I had the amount and shopped for hosts during the purchase discussions. It may be 4 digits, but unless they're getting hosed it's barely four digits.)

Here's the thing............ none of us have the ability to 'pull the plug'. Even if we wanted to, it isn't within our power. Still, why would we want to? I can only speak for myself, but I will ride this thing until it is dead. I enjoy other sites as you have mentioned. I think this site was sold to an entity that didn't give a # about it, and he transferred the responsibility of it to two lesser entities that were unwilling to truly step up to the plate and make this whole thing work. Thus, ATS is now adrift. So it goes.

The whole of the internet is undergoing an information war. Even my little Bit chute is under attack where vids don't play anymore. Certain information memes are kept within manageable bounds or they start to go viral, and will upset the planned programing of the 80 or so percent of the people. I give it a few more weeks as the signs have been too persistent for too long to change the outcome.

AI vids on You Tube are now working their anti magic where even common sense is being dust binned. When they say they must crack down in disinformation we must be aware that they are telling us that they will be running the disinformation from now on.

As a personal opinion it is all about a coming war, the point of which is to depopulate the planet down to a sustainable level of people. Which is well underway.

At least as members of this site we can't say that we haven't been warned, and the wise among us have prepared.

Exactly. We can't unplug it and have no desire to "ban everybody." All we want is a place for a civil discourse for topics topics members choose to discuss. And like any respectable establishment, people who get their jollies via disruption are shown the exit. Only now, there's no way back in. Which isn't optimal, but we're playing the hand we've been dealt.

Eh I'm cool either way. Like the Titanic going down just enjoy the music while you can. I'm not sure whoever is left has the ability to "pull the plug" anyways.

I like DI and should visit it more often, but ATS is home and its where I'll stay till the bitter end.

I loiter on DI, and its a great site. I will try to remain here on ATS though till the bitter end, but it does feel a little like this as the members disappear.

That saying brought back some fond memories. For my 18th birthday, my best mate gave me a pewter tankard with a glass bottom, so I could see pirates that were to attack me whilst downing my pint.

On the glass was etched "To the bitter end"... Bitters were my preferred ales.

Unfortunately, I lost it during my globe-trotting adventures, but it looked something like this, but more ornate.
