Can you provide a link or two to site/news channels that are covering this. I haven't seen much on TV about it.

Here's live updates NBC-Helene live updates

NPR

Fox

Weather Channel

CNN

There are a lot more but just provided a few sources including larger networks.

You could use YouTube and the "live" search for current live coverages.

Fema was sent and assistance authorized days ago. The TN governor was the last to request assistance. He spent one day telling citizens to just fast and pray.

The President will visit once they inform him that a visit will not strain the resources currently on the ground as the security measures, getting him to those areas would take away resources from the help needed right now as noted in one of the WH statements over the weekend.

I think the point is that Presidents usually make public statements in the wake of natural disasters like this, expresses support and how he authorized aid, etc.. Maybe he did and I just missed it. I can understand not visiting due to the situation being chaotic and not wanting to take away needed resources. Seems like this would have been a great opportunity for him (and Kamala) to show some empathy.

He has made statements:

"I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and devastation caused by Hurricane Helene across the Southeast," Biden said in the statement. "As the storm continues to track north, Vice President Harris and I remain focused on life-saving and life-sustaining response and recovery efforts.

He later declared a "major disaster" declaration and "ordered Federal aid to supplement state, tribal, and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Helene."

In a brief exchange with reporters, he described the impact of the storm as ā€œstunningā€ and said that the administration is giving states ā€œeverything we haveā€ to help with their response to the storm.

Biden planned to speak about the administrationā€™s response efforts in remarks from the White House on Monday.

The White House also said Vice President Kamala Harris will visit the storm-ravaged areas ā€œas soon as it is possible without disrupting emergency response operations.ā€

Harris has also spoken about it.

At a Las Vegas rally Sunday night, Harris spoke about the impact of Helene, saying, ā€œI know everyone here sends their thoughts and prayer for the folks who have been so devastated by that hurricane.ā€ She added: ā€œWe will stand with these communities for as long as it takes and make sure they are able to rebuild.ā€

Just imagine if as was noted here on ATS before, that Project 2025 clearly states NOAA will be disbanded and privatized among various groups with no central group providing all info from various branches as is done now and people would have to pay to be informed through an app or site and FEMA would be reduced and burdens would be put on the states to provide individually.

If Trump wins, and you don't believe he's got anything to do with it, remember that if anything happens to him due to his age, Vance does believe in it. Whole heartily.

imagine being so wrapped up around politics that you have to score imaginary points online to try and say your side is better.

post the news links sure, post donation sites sure, give information sure, try separating yourself from politics for 30 seconds.

So I should not have responded when someone states that there has been no response? I clearly did post just the links. When there clearly has been a response. It's that sly move, if you've been anywhere online in the past few days, it's been an onslaught of Biden has not sent any help, he hates red states, he wants people to die, etc. It's already been politicized with false claims and info that is readily available with a 30 second search.

You're absolutely right. I should have said half-assed response(s). No public address or news conference? Your link summarized it perfectly:

in a brief exchange with reporters

Has there been anything other than brief exchanges in months? Also, I really don't care what Trump did or didn't do. He's not the current President. You should have made a post in 2017 or 2018 about it.

At the time I posted that there had been no response, and even now after Biden kind of addressed the country, if you can call that press conference that, there was no indication that he did anything over the weekend about this, oh and as for Harris bringing it up at a rally, geeshs.

There was a time not long ago when the day that this made landfall and reports of destruction started coming out, the media and the President would be very public about what is going on, now days the media is trying to cover for the President, and the President just ignores the crisis until the next workday.

My post wasn't about politics as such, but if you really want to dive into that, go look at why we stopped providing resources to PR or what happened when states had asked for assistance, instead of yelling about Trump. Maybe look past the talking points and see what was really happening. Not long-ago Joe Biden went to survey Florida after they had a hurricane and what was his statement... Oh yeah "No body "F"s with a Biden". Let that sink in there.

So, no leaving politics out, this was a piss poor response so far by the government and the media. I hope that changes for the sake of the people affected, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Well here's Biden with all the answers!!! šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Biden says thereā€™s no more resources he could give to hurricane victims.

Meanwhile illegals are getting free housing and food.

Former/Next President Donald Trump is on the ground helping out personally, with moral support and trucks of supplies.
šŸ‘šŸ„‡

PRESIDENT BIDEN says he was on the phone with officials for 2 hours over the weekend, while at his beach house.

Kamala Harris had to be reminded she was V.P.. She then cancelled her campaign appearances for the next 2 days and went back to her D.C. office. šŸ˜Ø

Apparently counties in SC were hit hard too. I just checked and one county still showing at over 97 percent power outage. Iā€™m actually a bit surprised. I remember when I lived there one year it rained over 30 inches in a month or two but I guess this storm must have been way too much in only 2 or 3 days together with the wind.
My friends informing me South Carolina was hit hard too like nothing theyā€™ve seen.

Hopefully a cold front expected later in the week will push away any other tropical storms that may form in the Gulf.

I got curious and read the online newspaper headlines. Duke Energy expects restoration of power for the county by Friday down in the SC county I referred to. There are trees and power lines down all over the place. Duke Energy has 50 of their people there but thee are 550 people there working on restoring power.

Are you serious?

Just type 'Hurricane Helene' into your web browser and you will get dozens.

Please don't expect me to play silly internet games. If you have an honest and meaningful question I will certainly do my best to answer, but I am not here idly to debate and to bandy words. Sorry.

100'S OF DEAD BODIES DISCOVERED BY THE NATIONAL GUARD

Sadly the National Guard has discovered 100s of dead bodies that they are pulling out of the river that flooded the historic Biltmore village.

Images will be published as tastefully as can be done when I have received.

Operation Burning Edge is mobilizing and has acquired air assets but will need to fundraise for fuel.

Hey this supposed to be about the storm, not politics. Let me start out by saying that damage done by Helene has been horrific. Living where I do in mountains of East Tennessee there is roughly 60 miles of the state that is now cut off from the rest of it. If I'm not mistaken all the bridges but one were washed away. We call this area the island. We lost our water pumping station that was next to the dam so we have no water and probably won't for at least 2 more weeks. (We are all started to smell pretty) Thankfully the one remaining bridge in our county was deemed stable and we can get to town. (I drove over it today praying the whole time that it would not collapse, I think a lot of us here feel the same way) The road into North Carolina is still closed but helicopters have been flying over all day picking up survivors. We cheer as they fly over and yeah we say another prayer, happy someone made it out of hell on earth.

An entire county not having water is really a huge problem, not one many people would even think about. Want to go grab a bite to eat? NOPE, no restaurants are allowed to operate without running water BUT drive thrus are. hmmm Gas stations are allowed to sell pizza as well so at least no one will starve but geeze I sure miss my Waffle House. A majority of the factories laid everyone off since they cant maintain their safety due to having no water for sprinkler systems, that and not having functioning toilets. In other related news there is now a shortage on port o potties.

For me personally this storm has been an inconvenience but for so many others it will change everything. We will be pulling their bodies out of debris piles, the mud and even the trees. We will be helping to pick up peoples shattered homes and haul away their destroyed mementos and heirlooms. There really is so much to say but I just don't have the words other than hug your loved ones, snuggle your fur babies. There is no guarantee from one minute to the next.

I hope the guard is lifting water buffalos and water purification into the cut off areas or that death toll is going to climb in the coming weeks.

a reply to: Irishhaf Water is being hauled in but its not enough, not by a long shot. I have plenty of bottled water at the moment and a spring, but we have so many transplants here now that aren't aware that you need to boil the water before you drink it.
