I agree with you. Old ATS users know that I had a dog, a Chinese Crested, whom I loved and who lived for 16.5 years and died when put to sleep in my loving arms. But pets are not children. I sure appreciate the Holy Spirit myself. I respect the position you have on this. Sad to lose a good friend. It is tough if you had them a long time, but you have the memories. I had one dog with a "super power" a little mixed poodle that was so smart, yet so small at 10 pounds. It would do some type of scream at dogs messing with it like a wild banshi. We could make it do that by howling like coyote's.

Cat's on the other hand are not man's friend. We are their servants as far as I can tell. I have none.

So, there is an interesting part with all this. The real issue is there are like 15,000 to 20,000 Haitians in a town of 55,000. This is such a crazy level of any group/culture pushed into such a small population that you end up with Little Haiti and not assimilate into the American culture. Haitians eat many kinds of animals we do not eat, part is their culture, and part is they need to eat and have no money, so yes, they are eating cats, dogs, birds etc, maybe not at the level Trump wants to push, but the narrative didn't come out of nothing.

The other interesting part is that Liberals turned all this into anti-Trump memes, and instead of the Right freaking out like what the Left would do, the Right has taken ownership of these memes and enjoyed them, and it is pissing off the Left...

I think a part of the Haitian community needs to step forward and work with the local community on this. As I said this didn't come out of thin air so there is a level of responsibility and education that needs to happen on both sides. I have lived all over the world, and love so many other cultures, but what I have seen in markets would freak out the typical American that only considers the clean-wrapped side of things in a nice grocery store.

The governor of Ohio will send law enforcement and millions of dollars in healthcare resources to the city of Springfield as it faces a surge in temporary Haitian migrants that has landed it in the national spotlight.

I have already said that eating people's cats is the least of the problems when you put that many immigrants into a small population.
