Donald Trump says IVF should be free, paid for by government or insurance companies

This will be an unpopular statement here, but here goes ...

While in the swing state of Wisconsin, Donald Trump made the following statement ... "Your government will either pay for IVF treatment or mandate that insurance companies pay for it".

Full disclosure .. I was going to vote Libertarian but that candidate is so bad that I'm going to hold my nose and vote for Donald Trump. But I have to say I fully disagree with his statement. IVF is insanely expensive, and many many children die in the process of getting that one live baby. Our tax money should not be paying for peoples huge medical bills to make a baby in a lab. If people want babies, then they should be the ones to pay for it to happen. And forcing insurance companies to pay for the IVF baby making process will mean that those insurance companies will just jack up the price of their rates and people will be paying more for insurance.

Nothing is 'free'. So saying that IVF should be free is not true, everything gets paid for by someone and nothing is 'free', and saying that it should be free sounds like the Democrats who go around saying 'free stuff free stuff' to get votes.

So what do YOU all say? "Free IVF" paid for by your tax money or paid for by raising insurance premiums for everyone ???? Good idea or no???

Edited to add .... 28 years ago we adopted. When we did, we paid for the whole thing and it was very expensive. If IVF is "free" and paid for by the government, then does that mean that adoption should be "free" as well ?? No matter if it's an adoption from the state, or through private means .... If all IVF is paid for by the government tax money, then shouldn't ALL adoption be as well?

I thought Trump was against IVF, isn't that what Michelle Obama talked about at the DNC? How Trump would take it away, or something?

Or, is that more Project 2025 crap?

Hopefully he's too busy deporting illegals and negotiating peace deals to follow up on that.

So either tax payers will be paying for people to have children or insurance companies will put up their rates to cover the cost of people claiming for IVF.

Adoption is the best way for childless couples who can't afford IVF to have children not IVF paid for by the state / tax payer , IMO.

We’re likely to encounter some population issues in the near future. So I can see why there’s interest on this one.

I do see it a little arbitrary though government would foot the bill.

Even health insurance is a bit of a stretch as this isn’t “needed” health care. It would just increase premiums of other payers, given IVF is very expensive.

But as others have noted, I doubt this would be seen through, thankfully.

IVF treatment is free on the NHS in UK. How many 'cycles' you are allowed and various other perameters are determined by individual local trusts in your area.

Freind of mine did IVF. It cost him and his wife 50,000 dollars. They also took in a special needs child that the parents didn't want.
As far as adoption goes it shouldn't be so damn expensive, and full of red tape. Lawyers can make bank with adoptions. My brother tried to adopt but it didn't happen due to cost.

This tells me that if you have government mandated healthcare this would be available. It also states t pressure on insurance companies....but no one mentions a deducting newborn expenses? So he also wants a tax cut.

This is creating life. Helping those who want to create a family. I have no issue with this and it is not because he said he supports it.

When we stop sending billions to other countries we can do more for our own citizens.

So the taxpayers there have to foot the bill for other people to have very expensive medical procedures to have kids. See ... that's not fair to the taxpayer. If someone wants a kid, then they should be the ones to pay for the procedures to have the kid. Kids are an 'extra' luxury item. It's not like it's Parkinsons care or Cancer care that are necessary.

Having to pay for medical procedures to create children is a luxury.
I shouldn't have to pay for people to have children.
If they want them .. they should pay for them.

This happens in numerous European countries. You get 2 or 3 or 4 "free" cycles depending. After that it's up to you to spend your own money.

He's right America needs to support those that want kids.. America does need babies.

Hmm since we need babies are they paying any woman who can no longer get an abortion(because God) in her state while she is pregnant? Don't want to pay a person forced to carry, but will pay a person who God does not seem to want to have a child naturally?
