At this point, I do not believe anything I hear as set in stone. And what do I hear anyway other than statements made to witless media pundits?

Just discussing the topic, it's fairly historic and it will be interesting see what happened at the DNC

this is ATS if we waited till it was set in stone there wouldn't have been any UFO threads till last summer.

If the Democrats were smart; they would stick with Harris.

They can't afford more turmoil and in fighting this close to a national election. Their choice is clear; risk loosing congress through a last ditch effort to increase their chances of winning the presidency or let the Presidential race be as it may in order to safe guard their congressional races.

They would have stayed with Biden even though he was losing, except they were afraid his mental issues could cause an event or serious of events that would harm all down ballet elections. That risk doesn't exist with Harris no matter her chances of winning.

I think they will choose the congressional races. They know that if Trump wins they can always perpetuate a series of soft coup attempts like they did in 2016. They might not have bewn successful; but they did learn last time that the attept themselves can be all most as impactful.

There was supposed to be a virtual formal nomination of Biden before the Chicago convention.
The official reason was due to State laws (which have since been modified).
I thought the real reason was in case of riots, they could wrap it up early.

It seems like it is going to happen in person now.

Things don't seem calmer in Chicago. Things might get very interesting there.

They started doing Trump v Harris polls in the battleground states recently:

Georgia, poll published July 16 -- Trump +10 over Harris
Pennsylvania, July 18 -- Trump +7
Nevada, July 18 -- Trump +10
Arizona, July 18 -- Trump +6
Florida, July 18 -- Trump +10

It doesn't look like they started doing the 5-way polling in the individual states yet, which is what the real election will be, and of course most voters barely know Harris so the numbers could change.

They really screwed up…

Not having a primary.

Pretending and gaslighting everyone that Biden was normal.

Destroying the country then thinking they could make it a single issue election.

Destroying and weaponizing the government to go after their political opponents.

Thinking nobody would notice.

Now they’re stuck with Kamala on the ticket.
She couldn’t even pull more than 1% in her own state.
She’s similar to Hilary in that women don’t even like her.

Here’s the current odds for the Dems in waiting….

Josh Shapiro: 31%
Roy Cooper: 26%
Andy Beshear: 16%
Pete Buttigieg: 13%
Mark Kelly: 11%
Gavin Newsom: 6%
Gretchen Whitmer: 5%
J. B. Pritzker: 3%
Hillary Clinton: 2%

Looks like Shapiro has a great chance.
Only issue with him?
The democrats are anti Israel and pro hamas.
Shapiro is Jewish.
The democrat party continues to eat itself and it’s hilarious. 😆

What if Kennedy switched back to being a democrat?

It would be a smart move by Kennedy and the Left. It would actually turn out to be a really competitive race IMO.

That’s how I know it won’t happen. I think the left is indignant on doing anything smart. They’re masochists who get off on losing and coming up with the most creative ways why as long as they don’t involve inflection.

Not so fast ,there are Legal Considerations here..

" JOHNSON: Well, these elections are handled at the state level. Every state has its own system and in some of these, it’s not possible to simply just switch out a candidate who has been chosen through the democratic, small D, democratic process over such a long period of time. Fourteen million Democrats voted to make Joe Biden the nominee.

So, it would be wrong and I think unlawful in accordance to some of these state rules for a handful of people to go in the backroom and switch it out because they don’t like the candidate any longer. That’s not how this is supposed to work.

The left has made themselves quite the bed.

I also like the idea of state rights to push back on the federal government.

The left’s mistake was allowing it to get this far. They did a lot of dirty stuff to make that happen, and it was their folly in 16’ too with tone deaf Hillary.

But a lot of these states are really lame when it comes to elections to begin with. Many don’t allow write ins, or have crazy rules for a candidate to get on a ballot. Some make voting a primaries a pain in the ass by forcing you to be a party member card holder.

Did the left push Biden in and likely Biden out? Probably. But I don’t see how less options is more democratic than more options. Even if the options are trash.

I think the whole problem in politics is this incredibly bureaucratic hodgepodge makes precisely the BS party system were plagued with.

There’s a 99% chance I won’t vote for anyone the Left presents. But people voting for the candidate in the primary, and them dropping out doesn’t seem like the party can’t present someone else.

I think another primary would be ideal. But if there is someone on the ballot, people can still not vote for them.

Can it be Biden was simply trying to say that he did not want to have to pick a successor?

The Proper Democratic Thing to do here then is to have an Open Democrat Convention and have the States Vote on their Choice of Candidate . No ?

I think a show of good faith would be optimal in this process considering trust is at a societal low.

I also doubt that’s going to happen.

But however it happens, I don’t see how less choices is more democratic no matter the process to get there.

The parties, states, media and government as a whole have found rare unity in hedging out all other options aside from the two party ordained options.

Often those two party options have more similarities than differences. I’ve seen inner party primaries with more contrast than the candidates that make both tickets.

The answer isn’t less, it’s more.

A write in president is almost statistically impossible, if not impossible because of the number of states who don’t allow it. Seems like the biggest sure fire contingency for a populace saying no to the system. Yet we can’t.

Where’d you find those odds?

Here’s the ones from a casino I know will take the bet-

Kamala Harris -400
Michelle Obama +1000
Gretchen Whitmer +1200
Gavin Newsom +1400
Hillary Clinton +2000

(Those are displayed in American odds: -400 is 400 to win 100, plus 1,000 is 100 to win a thousand)

Don't worry. When voters actually see and hear Kamala in action her numbers will drop even further.

They only have one path to victory with this disaster of a candidate:

Apparently, so the illegals aren't shown for the DNC convention, they are moving them to a BRAND new hotel by Midway airport in Chicago.

I'm not sure what they were thinking - maybe it was to avoid the cameras or the vistors.

I know this area very well. Lots of people take the bus/train right past that sparkly new hotel.
It's a poor to low working class neighborhood.
Not all houses have air conditioning and none have pools.

This is going to backfire in a big, big way.
