If you're as sharp a the corner on a hockey puck, then, yes, it's required.

Seriously though, just like the phony lip-synching performers, I think this is a symptom of a much bigger issue.

It all boils down to honesty. Nothing is real anymore, pre-planned, fabricated, orchestrated, etc, is the new normal.

I wonder if we can spend a whole hour without hearing a lie?

Doubt it..

It doesn't mater if it's normal or not; its terrible optics for the Biden campaign given their current state. They should have known better.

It can't be that normal and expected if the radio host was fired over using the pre-approved questions.

Radio station parts ways with Biden interviewer for using questions sent in advance

A talk radio station in Pennsylvania has parted ways with one of its hosts after she used questions provided by Joe Biden’s campaign during his first post-debate interview last week.

Sara M. Lomax, President and CEO of WURD Radio, announced Sunday that Biden’s interview with “The Source” host Andrea Lawful-Sanders was “arranged and negotiated independently … without knowledge, consultation or collaboration with WURD management.” Lawful-Sanders violated the station’s standards of journalistic independence and “mutually agreed” to part ways with the station, effective immediately, Lomax confirmed.

Trumps team refused yesterday because someone refused to supply questions in advance for an interview.

Common practice. Don't let em catch ya off guard...

It makes sense, when you consider that the family who owns Fox News (Murdochs) donate to Joe Biden's election campaign.

Fox News wants to be "fair and balanced", apparently. Republicans, Independents, Democrats, Honest people, Crooks, Perverts, Racists, Saints...Fox News wants all of them to have say. That's fine by me.

The lady who interviewed Joe Biden must have had a connection with the White House in some way, for some time before the interview. It's good she was fired.

Search yesterday about a canceled interview over not providing them ahead.

You know this is business as usual? Always get the questions ahead..or no deal.

Great news.

It is quite a common practice in the US politics but it breaks all journalism ethics as it's PR/Propaganda instead of journalism - the station have done the right thing in firing the journalist for performing daark arts instead of journalism.

In paticular for Biden pre-approved questions post the presidential debate disaster are unforgiveable as even the Dems are pointing out he's clearly unfit for office and needs to stand down. Fielding him pre-approved questions is an insult to journalism, violates fourth estate rules and subverts democracy.

PR companies will always ask for pre-approved questions but a journalists job is to refuse to do so as PR/Dark Arts is the enemy of journalism; a vague 'The interview is focused on topics x, y, z' is allowed but any specifics are banned - in the UK any political journalist acting that way would be fired and blacklisted from working in the industry; even the Royal family aren't granted such treatment like Prince Andrew's Epstein interview.

Trump was given pre-approved questions by Hannity, Carlson, Brietbart et al and a few other talking head fake journalists but outside them Fox didn't use the practice as Murdoch thought Trump was a '#ing idiot'. It was/is standard practice for any Republican on the network to follow a pre-approved, rehearsed script instead of actual journalism.

so do you feel there is a difference in asking what the questions he will be asked is, vs. telling them what the questions will be, and ordering them not to veer off topic? The two sound very different.

Worked in UK PR and journalism for a bit and they're very different. The latter crosses a major red line in journalism when it comes to politics and anyone caught doing it will get beaten up and fired.

It's standard practice for PR teams to try their luck and try and pre-screen and script answers in case they get a wet behind the ears journo, it's up to the journalist to refuse to engage in dark arts.

If someone refuses an interview in UIK broadcast journalism there's a thing called 'empty charing' used where the journo goes through what they wanted to talk about in the interview but they show an empty chair to signify that the politician doesn't give a # about the public. It's very effective over here but not sure if it would translate to the US.

It doesn't apply in this case as the outlet seeking to interview Trump seems to be a tiny one with no real audience. He doesn't owe them an interview anything and obviously there's bigger priorities and outlets to speak to.

thanks for the inside look. Things are a bit different here. We have a leader who has only had one "off the cuff" interview in his entire presidency and it was the debate. All others had pre scripted questions, and as you can see, we are led to believe that's just normal.

if he did and still did that poorly, then he shouldn't be allowed to take steps without two people holding his arms.
