They need to listen to the British electorate act accordingly.

But I doubt they will, will they? The mere fact they have won a landslide tells them people approve of their manifesto... not because it was a vote to oust the Conservatives. It's the people who put their mark for a Labour candidate, just to get the Conservatives out that need to give their head a wobble! They are going to pay for this as will the rest of us.

With respect being far away makes my view objective rather than subjective, I doubt whether Labour will get out of Ukraine it can't which means all resources will be commited to war and not social reconstruction.

That's true...but surely the wiser heads in The Labour Party - and yes, I'm making the assumption that there are actually some - should be looking at the popular vote and the disproportionate number of seats they have won along with underlying political trends.
People are sick of mealy mouthed, careerist, populist politicians.
If Labour doesn't take heed they too could be taught a very humiliating lesson.

Depsite our doubts the only option we have at present is to sit back, watch and observe and judge Labour on their actions.

Five years may seem like a lot, but as we know, its the blinking if an eye in terms of getting legislation through Parliament and making real and effective change.

We don't want to stop supporting Ukraine.

Again with all due respect, your record on observations on UK politics is hardly one of success is it.

Apparently Labour got just 32% of the vote, which is the lowest in history for the ruling/incoming party.
There is some hope in the statistics perhaps. Which leads me to think..... will Labour survive the 5 years?

Have a look at a few facts of the way things will be going.
As for predictions i don't make them just the percentage as directed by probabilities.

The mere fact they have won a landslide tells them people approve of their manifesto... not because it was a vote to oust the Conservatives.

Because parties have internal divisions, having a landslide can turn out to be a mixed blessing.

Those in the Labour party who think Starmer isn't left-wing enough may be dismayed to find that with such a large majority he can afford to ignore them and can't be held to ransom.

Alternatively, the party leadership may be dismayed to find that rebels are less inhibited, when they know that rebellion can't undermine a Commons majority, and they won't be as well-disciplined as they were obliged to be during the small-majority Wilson years.

Either way, it's possible that the Labour party will end up having their own version of the centrist/extremist split. Then it really will be a case of what my mother used to call "fun and games".

This is why we need Reform UK.

Formerly known as the Brexit Party. How did that round of kicking out Johnny Foreigner do?

You mean how did it go under a Tory party who did their best not to deliver Brexit ?
It went as well as could be expected under the circumstances, if the Brexit party had been in government it would have been delivered in full.

Now under a Labour government with a large majority it will be rolled back which I guess will please remoaners like yourself.

Reform now have 5 seats after a recount in Basildon. Onlu 90'ish votes, but all the same, the candidate has beaten a Labour candidate.

I think it might be a good idea to reform the Lords from a dumping ground for incompetent, scandalous or dementia-ridden party elders and turn it into a second commons but with seats assigned via proportional representation.

Like Labour get 35% of the overall national vote, they get 35% of the seats in the new chamber, and so on in that fashion.

Won't happen like but a man can dream.

Couldn't agree more , Brady gets his peerage for helping Sunak to the top job and May for ..... Ermmm , perhaps he thought it was James may , other than that I have no idea.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has handed peerages to former prime minister Theresa May and Sir Graham Brady, the former chairman of the influential Conservative backbench 1922 committee.

One of the positives is the abject humiliation of the SNP in Scotland. Maybe they can finally stfu about a second referendum now.

I fear we'll have to wait until the Scottish Parliament election till then though.
