"Would it not be more inclusive just to let them mingle?"

Maybe that's a good idea! It would help more girls get their abortion badge!

TPTB want to remove gender. They want genderless people and how they're doing it is with this new generation. They want wussified boys and manly girls. Who needs a man? Society needs a man. American superiority needs a man. Real man. Not some pansy. Look at what China is doing and really think.

Do you think anybody under 20 in America right now has the testicular fortitude to storm the beach at Normandy? Definitely not. There's a reason for this.

There's no conspiracy.

Gender roles just plain suck.

Men forced to be macho? Guess what -- not all men are Neanderthals or want to be (no offense to Neanderthals).

I don't know what kind of Scouts you have been attending.

That kind of statement sounds like it's climbed out of the bucket through.

As to what the feck abortions have to do with kids attending scouts.

I'm apt to ponder not that much.

I guess, for my part as a former Boy Scout, I don't care nearly as much about the name change, or even about girls participating in Scouting, as I do about the impetus for the name change.

In my not so humble opinion, this is just yet another shining example of an age-old institution caving in to political correctness and cancel culture for all the wrong reasons. Heck, I don't even care if you're a woman who thinks it's a man but who identifies as a Snickers bar and wants to participate in Scouting; that's all fine. Change the name to Daredevils on a Wire who Eat Cheese, I really don't care what the name is; it doesn't matter. What really matters is...bowing to the social pressure to homogenize...every...single...damn...thing, down to the point of unrecognizability. (is that even a word, 'unrecognizability'? If it's not, then it should be! lol)

If someone had presented an argument that consolidating the Boy and Girl Scouts made better financial sense and saved gobs of overhead, then that would be one thing, but that's not what's happening here. What is happening is an institution caving in to some perceived wrong they are perpetuating by having their name be what it is, what it has been. That, folks, is wrong. There's no common sense element to any of this, no financial consideration (costs be damned); there is nothing more than social knee-jerk response.

Imagine for a moment a world where there is no color, where every single stinking thing is taupe-grey. Imagine a world where everyone speaks the exact same dialect, eats the same bland soylent green (except it ain't green, but rather...taupe-grey) for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Imagine a world where there are no distinct days, but rather every day is called "Anyday", a world where everything is dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. And, imagine a world where there is no such thing as difference, or opinion...none, zero, nada. Is that the world everyone wants to live in? Because that's where we're headed. I know I sure don't want to live in that world!

All because someone got offended.

This whole thing isn't about the Boy Scouts, it's about society today. The Boy Scouts will change their name to Scouting America, this much is not in question. But if we step back from this one thing and look at the larger picture, well, we better start getting used to taupe-grey, because that's what color your car will be, your house will be, your clothes will be, your food will be, your news will be, your opinions will be, your monuments will be, your history will be. Everyone will be identical, virtually indistinguishable from one another.

Enjoy.

Seems to me a lot of people seem to be rather ""offended"" regarding the change in name.

And technically if the scouts are already admitting girls into their ranks.

Then the name change would seem prudent at least for descriptive purposes imho.

I cant see what is wrong with simply calling them "The Scouts" which would seem to cover everyone.

It's the same system all over north America. And girls have been getting into the boy scout group for decades now.
Times change grandpa, you don't need to be contrarian for the sake of being contrarian on every topic that isn't overly in favor of what the 1950s America looked like.

Scouting used to be a military youth indoctrination program, it's now just a youth group geared towards community building, personal responsibilities, bonding and out door survival.

If parents don't want their daughters going into girl scouts or girl guides they can choose the other option.

Yup, boys who aren't smart enough to know their boys, girls who aren't smart enough to know they are girls, parents indoctrinating their kids into believing their woke idiocy, things are changing kid. And not for the better. But you do you and when you get to be an old guy, you can think back at how "smart" you were today. I'd bet old you would whip young you's ass.

Amazing isn't it.

How much it hurts certain peoples feelings that an organisation that has boy and girl members is changing its name to not include the word boy.

Everybody is overlooking the obvious.

The Boy Scouts lost somewhere in the vicinity of 60% of their membership during the Covid years for a variety of reasons. They are slowly trying to rebuild, but they probably need to attract more members of any kind in order to remain economically viable.

no doubt. who would have thought people on an online discussion site would state opinions on things happening in the world. Are they just stupid? Everyone knows you are just supposed to think and act like you do.

Well, I'm not one of them, not at face value anyway. As I noted, I don't care what they call the Scouts. The larger problem is the "why?" component. That's the part I care about, and candidly...that's the part everyone should care about.

Oh sure, some apologists will be along shortly screaming "inclusiveness" and "equality", and asking what is wrong with that? There's nothing wrong with it, and everything wrong with it, all at the same time. But really, the bottom line is, what changed? Answer: Nothing, just the name. Girls, and gender benders, have been welcome in Scouting for decades, so why change now? To increase their ranks? I think not.

And what about the Girl Scouts? Are they now going to change too? Maybe Scouting America II, or Scouting America Better A1? If I was in charge of the Girl Scouts, well, I'd be even more pissed about this! LOL!

Exactly. If its a business would you want a name that excludes 50% of your potential customers?

What part of Andys post said you weren't allowed an opinion?

Maybe you meant to reply to someone who goes 'DERP' or ' clown world' to opinions they disagree with.

Quite possibly because its a numbers game and if they dont change to accommodate new members the organisation will stagnate and die, thats why.

As to the rest of those questions, you're answering them yourself, even if you dont like the conclusions.

Change is inevitable Flyingclaydisk, that's just how the world rolls, it's the pace that seems to be the problem for some.

Myself included where a lot of things are concerned.

But its in the post, and one way or the other going to happen with or without our consent.

Some of them maybe to one degree or another.

As to what everyone knows, well that's debatable.

Everyone has an opinion that's for sure.

And just like ar@eholes, other people's tend to stink.

Still won't stop change from happening.

And while that is all certainly true; not all change is good*, and just because it is happening doesn't mean people should quietly let it happen.

*not necessarily this issue.

I dont think you get to stop it from happening because it's inevitable.

Ever notice how people tend to moan and grown more and are unable to accept change and new things as they get older?

I'm in that same boat also.

The world won't stay the way people wish it to be.

And there is not much people can do about that from one generation to the next as far as i can establish.

The next generation will have there say and make the same kind of mistakes we make.

Just in new and interesting ways.

You know, at face value, the change makes perfect sense.

Makes perfect sense...IF the real reason was that, but unfortunately it's not.

Unfotunate for some.

For others, like you say it makes perfect sense.

There will always be hidden agendas both real and imagined.

As to the real reason, I'm apt to ponder its the survival of the organisation Flyingclaydisk.

That my bell going through, need to deal with deliveries.
