Once OMB signs off, the DEA will take public comment on the plan to move marijuana from its current classification as a Schedule I drug, alongside heroin and '___'. It moves pot to Schedule III, alongside ketamine and some anabolic steroids, following a recommendation from the federal Health and Human Services Department. After the public comment period and a review by an administrative judge, the agency would eventually publish the final rule.

This Ruling has been a Long Time Coming . A Schedule I Drug alongside heroin and '___' Is Finally moved to a Schedule III Non Controlled Substance by the DEA . Thoughts ?

About time. Marijuana has demonstrable healthcare uses. There's no good reason it should've been Schedule I for so long.

It should just literally be legal in the same way alcohol is. Its not a drug, no processing required or chemical change made, its a plant. Is there any other plant that's outlawed? None that I know of...not even then myriad of psychoactive cacti are illegal.

That fact that it’s classed along side heavy drugs is rediculous.

As someone who in my darker days dabbled in almost everything on the narcotics lists I can tell anyone who is curious and unwilling to try for themselves that cannabis is without a doubt the least harmful substance we consider a drug.

If I had to give cannabis a relative rating for its danger and use I would compare it to coffee.

Granted hard drugs can and will ruin your life even with a single use I’ve seen it. People go from regular human to fiend almost overnight. And should be illegal but cannabis is not that.

Now there are some people who have predispositions and they shouldn’t consume cannabis because it has the possibly to inflict psychosis in a very very small percentage of people. So it’s not without any risk at all. Much like you shouldn’t drink coffee with a heart condition, shouldn’t smoke week with a mind condition.

Does cannabis have the potential to turn you into a lazy stoner? Sure, but if so you were probably lazy without the cannabis.

Also inhaling burnt matter and carbon of any kind is bad and can be cancerous so people who smoke flower but have convinced themselves it’s healthy, sorry your wrong. No the benefits don’t out way the cost it’s bad for you blanket statement.

But luckily it’s 2024 and you can easily get cannabis extracts and edibles that are orders of magnitude better.

Biden has already pardoned everyone with a federal possession charge. Unfortunately, most of the charges for marijuana possession occur at the state level, which means there's not really anything that can be done at the federal level to expunge those charges.

Yea I was going to rebut that too but then I decided I just didn't care enough to. I mean if you actually believe it damages your liver you probably believe a bunch of other myths and probably don't like cannabis to begin with.

But this is good news, and a long time coming. But it shouldn't be on the controlled substance list at all.

Over Kamala Harris’ seven years as top prosecutor, her attorneys won 1,956 misdemeanor and felony convictions for marijuana possession, cultivation, or sale, according to data from the DA’s office.
Thanks Kamala🫶

This reclassification won’t end well.
The new modern day extremely potent super pot has been increasingly linked to violent crimes.
It’s causing psychosis.
Only 18% of the population uses the stuff yet 75% of convicts in prison were regular users.
This can’t be a coincidence.

There seems to be a threshold where humans that live in unpoluted air develop more respiratory disease.

The theory goes that carbon from natural combustion (fire) has been part and parcel of the human evolution.

Once you consider how long we lived in caves it's been a microsecond we had any other energy resource than fire.
Our whole breathing system adapted to natural fire and it's fumes and still needs them to maintain the balance.

I'm not saying you should smoke and that excessive smoke intake can't cause all sort of problems. I just found it an interesting piece of knowledge...

While I don't use it myself and don't care if anyone else does or not, I find this suspicious. Does it make the people more docile and easier to controll? Are 'they' going to make a lot of money off it by taxing it or having to sell you other drugs to counteract some unconsidered side affects?

I know the ban was to protect the cotton growers and cotton industry. So why
Now?

Just asking.

Pretty sure this gets tossed around every election.

It's an attempt to pander to pot smokers that usually gets "talked about" but nothing ever changes
