Smell + memory go together. Page 163.
Now I haven't fully read the whole book but this area is worth investigating. I have found that people with Long Covid also emit a strong unpleasant odor. Also there is an odor when people are suffering from another variant.
That's my personal experience.
There is also something about the skin.
