This is very, very unusual. WSJ has more details. These independent directors were planning to "engage a consultant to find a sustainable model" and then something most unusual happened- Susan Wojcicki passed away suddenly. This resulted in delaying the board from taking action.
We should be suspicious of CEO Anne Wojcicki's intentions; she wanted to and still plans to take the company private which means there would be no public exposure or eyes on what she is up to.
