Electric vehicles and the energy issue, well, I'm going to go way out on a limb here and guess that you are a greenie. An environmentalist, believes in Climate change being man made, and staunchly against those who aren't on the same page. If that's wrong, please let me know. But as our environment is fragile, and we DO need to be sure we keep that at the forefront of our decisions, for the future inhabitants of this planet, we also need to make intelligent choices, and be sure we have solved the major problems we have before we react in a crisis manor. Do we have the right technology today to transition to all electric cars? Based on how things went over the winter, I'd say that's a negative ghost rider. And being from the way, way north, you should take very good notes on that one. Is our infrastructure able to deal with those changes today? Again, negative. If that's the direction we need to go, then a lot of work has to be done first and foremost, long before we mandate anything. the term 'putting the cart before the horse' comes to mind.

My way of thinking is from my life experiences. I assume yours are as well. (based on your growing up in the land of the moose)
I think you got some wrong ideas of how people on my side think of the whole "gender" thing. People all have the God Given right to be who and what they want to be. No laws or public stigma can change that. What (this is me speculating based on how I feel) seems to be the case is that children should not be able to make life altering decisions, such as changing gender roles. This isn't limiting them in who they want to be, It's offering them some time to mature, and fully understand what it is they are about to do. Kids make some dumb choices. Not because they are dumb, but because they lack life experience. that's not something against them, it's a simple fact, and one that is key to many things in a childs growth.

And lastly (not ignoring other answers, but working on the big ones) Equity as it stands today, is racism multiplied by a lot. A meritocracy where the most talented people are chosen for the most important positions is how you have the most effective system. Will there be some who just don't make the cut? Sure will. And they will have to find their place and accept that they won't be the head of a corporation or leading a nation. Not everyone is cut out for every job. But I do believe that everyone has value and if given the right circumstances, will find what they both love to do, and are good at. Some may not, due to many reasons, but not because of their appearance as much as because of their ability. We progress as a society by moving forward, and making things better. And rewarding apathy will not get is to a better place. IMHO.
Again, thanks for the conversation and I do hope that we can all start to talk TO each other more rather than AT each other.
this is why we need to talk more to each other rather than be polarized by our differences. After a few post back and forth, you and I have found that on one major sticking point that we both thought we were diametrically opposed on, in reality, we are very close. Makes you wonder how many other things we are closer on that we are apart.

I agree that trans kids should not make physically-altering decisions, however none of my kid's trans friends have ever done that. They've talked about it. Then in the end they've all decided that was too life altering for where they were in their life. So, just to be clear I'm for rights for trans folks, but I am also against kids having surgery when they don't understand the implications. I'm also against trans folks competing in the other sex's sports. So maybe there is some middle ground on this one.
Yes, I would classify myself as somewhat of an environmentalist. I will always push for the technology that has the least impact on the planet, regardless of the impact it has on the economy or family's household finances.

Joe Biden is trying to paint himself as a compassionate person. He is going to have a port built in Gaza so food can be brought in to the hungry people there.

Why is he trying to paint himself as a compassionate person vs doing what makes sense given the current info?

I keep thinking calling on the international community to pressure HAMAS to surrender and return the hostages would end the war in a few minutes and should be the direction taken, but I'm not a war guy, so there is that.

If HAMAS surrendered today, what reason would the IDF have to go into RAFA tomorrow?

Blows my mind too how some people will refuse to look at all sides of a matter.
I guess some people only have time to live in an echo chamber, for whatever reason.

I'd disagree but admit I'm far from perfect. I'm sure if I thought long enough I could find some examples of myself being like that, or have some pointed out to me.
Not hating on you just for the record.
Just found your post that I replied to amusing because you've outright told me in the past you don't have any interest in looking into this thing or that thing having to do with a subject. And you're go to, at least in some threads that come to mind, was to refer to all opposing views as far right Christian views.
Anyway, have a wonderful day. Please send some of that California son North. Apparently I brought the cold with me from the East Coast.
