Laws of war agreed on by almost all UN countries have reperations and spoils when a unconditional surrender was given.
Ottoman Empire issued one such surrender,and FORFEITED their lands and country for reperations.

In short BRITAIN and FRANCE became the sole owners of the lands. The SPOILS was the entire country and its lands. LEGALLY obtained by the League of nations/UN from Ottomans former leaders.

The Brits and french GAVE israel/signed over to them a recreated Israel. It was legally theirs.
They tried to do the same for the Arabs. They would had ruled as equals but they wanted the ENTIRE land with no jews. The brits and french said NO to that,which made the Arabs mad and they left the land to prepare for a war with Israel.

The arabs LOST and they in turn LEGALLY LOST their claim to the lands when they surrendered to Israel. Each exspansion of Israel was because the Arabs lost time and again.
Israel even tried to return 2 areas but their home countries refuse to take them back because the People living there are unwanted Arabs in their home countries. The Arabs do not OWN ANY LAND there who claim to be palestinian.
