That's the thing. Fraud is different to defrauding.

I literally agreed with you above Carp....

The value he gained by his deception?

Sounds criminal. What makes it civil? Under the premise that fraud and defrauding can me mutually exclusive?

Yes it does sound criminal.

But, the higher standard of proof required?

For what it's worth, and I have tried to stay out of the politics cos I don't like getting dogpiled, it clearly is all political and a civil case seems to be a better and easier way of hitting him where it hurts.

If Trump dropped out of the race, would all of this go away?

Thus why the summary judgement was needed as a predicate IMO.

I too look forward to the appeals and arguments from both angles.

It would seem that the civil judgement was based upon an assumption of guilt of a criminal statute. That does not bode well. Yet, if it is allowed to stand, then Trump is screwed. As are many, MANY Americans who hold and have held mortgages. Businesses who lease commercial space and developers looking to develop property.

I've made zero bones about this (any other) being political in nature. Ultimately, that's not of issue.

What is is the precedent set not only for the city of New York, but the entire country as a new precedent was set.

Hopefully we can agree on that as well.

Not sure if it is new but we do seem to have an accord, of sorts, for a change?

Thanks, you see it too.

I'm a prick.

It is entertaining for me to seek out how others interpret information and how they apply logic. Then taking that applied logic to its conclusion.

I don't know you, therefore nothing I say to you can be personal. How you interpret that is entirely up to you and anyone viewing.

Suffice to say yes, we have an accord. An agreement met on the premise that a damaging court decisions carry long reaching impact. Far beyond the ire of one person.

Is this all politically motivated? Yes, of course.

Now, was that so hard. No one is pestering it is called conversation.

I know what the law i but it's application here is being used to target a private citizen. Former POTUS or not it is a very egregious move on the part of the state of NY and their AG.

So, who do you feel should get this money if there is no victim?

Of course, one would have to be blind not to, that's a given.

Being me, it's the legal issues that interest me.

True, I don't like Trump (no hate) and Biden is clearly past his sell by date and I certainly am not on the left.

I do hate the real left like Corbyn but his day is gone and Starmer has made Labour almost look electable

It's amusing to hear you lot talk about commies and Marxists when we over here have had the real deal.

Trump or Biden? Trump or Hitlery? What choices you folk have!

As I keep saying to you, I simply don't know?

I have no opinion on this.

I feel your pain.

My prediction?

Trump will have a heart attack, Biden wins, then gets replaced by the even more awful Harris and then more heads will explode.

God help you all.

Good. We seem to be chilling?

Nobody puts Carpy in a corner.

I had a thought. Send the money to an independent to hold in escrow. Maybe an independent lawyer outside of the jurisdiction?

Perhaps, me?
I promise I'll look after it.

Scouts honour?
