If we are to take everything told to us at face value, then if they risked the capital involved in the purchasing of ATS, only to lose it then their pockets must be pretty deep.
Deeper than say hocking crystals to an audience that may be interested.
It was stated that the new owner is a huge BC profiteer.
Doesn’t surprise me that they lost interest. Probably on a yacht somewhere.
Years back, there were several posters that heavily invested in BC when it was low, and spoke about it here.
We could probably find them by looking at old posts. Because I highly doubt the person that bought the place was not a member previously.

It really is sad to see it all go up in smoke. 22 years is a hell of a mark to make on internet history.

Maybe their plans involve the name and not the forum.

That's an expensive name....

What if the end of this site coincided with most things discussed here being true and divulged and no need for the site any longer . I lurked a long time before I joined. This is going to suck. I’m hoping someone has an ATS 2.0 in the works or whatnot, a big part of me is going to be lost

Maybe they have to poke a lawyer, whom will have to poke another lawyer, whom can then poke the new owners.
How much does it cost to poke a lawyer in 2024 ?
Not anymore. There was a brief period after the passwords were disabled that even mods couldn't log in to moderate, when 18+ porn was inappropriately posted on a site that's supposed to be for ages 13+. But after a few days of that, the mods got their accounts restored, and the porn was then removed, apparently.

Last time I checked, £250 an hour and that was for a fairly mediocre solicitor but you'd be looking at something around that to write a snotty letter BUT you'd have to have a legal basis on which to poke. Are the owners actually doing anything wrong - in the legal sense?

If the site goes down for good, I will feel the loss of access to that information.

I do remember the old owners saying a major criterion for selecing the new owners is that they needed to feel confident the new owners would take good care of the site. Somehow, it seems that objective failed to be realized for some reason.

I should probably start archiving some of the best threads here, because this site has a treasure trove of information that's not readily available elsewhere on the internet. If the site goes down for good, I will feel the loss of access to that information.
