Well it is about perspective.
Those people lost under $8 billion.
Musks net worth has dropped almost $100 billion in the last two years.
Twitter value has dropped $25 billion

Their loss is hardy comparable...🀠

The next five years will be interesting when Tesla goes bankrupt and starship has no customers... If it ever flys without blowing up. Enjoy the show..😎

I think it would be great. Perhaps I could get my old account reactivated.

He has reactivated thousands and thousands of accounts on twitter and he must be credited for it. People who were suspended from the platform for saying that lockdowns were catastrophic and the vaccine rollout was careless and damaged many people. Others had their accounts banned for asking whether the election was stolen in 2020 and others who were banned for misinformation of the worst kind: men cannot be women and can't take part in women's sports.

I don't see anything wrong with Musk taking over this platform.

It looks like you've already solidified tour opion, so I don't see the point of your thread-unless you just like to argue.

I'd say the majority of old-timers here wouls hate to see BIG money take over ATS and dictate what can and can't be discussed. Algorythms are already deleting posts for no T&C violations and I suspct it's only going to get worse.
Add to that Musks' penchant for wanting to turn every venture-including 'Z'-into a for-profit organization. We'd no doubt have to pay for an 'upgrade' status to view forums in their entirety, or some would be blocked alltogether without a paid subscription.

I think that pretty much sums up the opinion of those who don't agree with yours.

Thread closed?

I see you are very keen for the thread to be closed...

Moat of the reasons given are just not valid. Musk is a narcissist, a moron, a self serving individual and a few other irrelevant arrangements which are not true. One mentioned he could go bankrupt but that's far from happening in the next few years and I don't see it happen to be honest.

Should? He made an offer?

This is not the first thread I see from a member hoping that some famous person should and could buy ATS. A bit naive question.

I ask a counter question: Why would they? There is no financial rebound, the people here don't want it obviously, so why would they (famous persons)?

I can't support anyone [Elon] that punks out to Mark Zuckerberg. You would think that with all the money Musk has, he could afford a spine.

We must use different math. Let's assume the numbers you give. They lost 100% and he lost under a third, but somehow you decide the latter is worse?

I would probably get along with Elon if he were here under a fake name. I don't think he is weird, I think I may be weird though.

Genuine answer - No way.

He has got enough social media to control as it is.

I am not sure that would be a great idea... I could see it going to a pay to have perks and such with him... he is a business man.

So was Trump a fraud businessman facing 91 felonies.

That you even feel Musk is a possiblity....shows you're either very young, or deluded. That is factual...

Why not get Iron Man- R. Downey Jr. to run? You know....flies around n all that....

I'll quote Styx-Dennis DeYoung...." All the heros and legends I knew as a child....have fallen into Idols of Clay".

Musk however...is worse: all muddy. PS and he's failing a lot these days...all his stuff.

What's wrong with a famous person taking over a relatively unknown platform.

The platform he already has is also facing extinction but if he took over here he would try to make it a subscription service and clutter it up with adverts.

If on the other hand he took over out of a sense of altruism to preserve the site then yeah , why not.

Very unlikely his platform will be facing extinction. Twitter is thriving and has been driving for a long period of time especially now that he is the owner.

Who says is about the money only?
I don't think it will be a bad idea and it will increase participation on this site. For a person like Elon Musk it wil be easy to keep a platform like ATS and even invest a little bringing basic advertising and much more attention to the website.

Elon would have the money to do a lot with ATS, but I don't think he would be a good fit here.

It would be a good idea if someone asks him on twitter. Why he would be interested? I mean nobody knows but you don't know what his response will be. On the other hand he may not be ware of the existence of this site or the various claims and accusations made against him on this platform. It's quite common to be accused by the way online by anonymous posters.

Granted!

Math doesn't seem to be their friend.
If you take a look the arguments on this thread on why Musk can't take over ATS you would think that most people are not genuine about what they say. They don't want their little corner to be disturbed by the attention Musk will bring and given their views will be challenged again and again by thousands of others.

Welcome back!?
And yet here you are calling it Twitter when Musk spent a fortune changing it to 'X'. Care to post a link to how it's thriving??

Twitter or X doesn't make any difference.
It's thriving with many more members than before posting whatever they think they should post.

Just because Musk overpaid for the shares doesn't make your bizarre argument correct. Twitter is full of life with posting from all parts of life. It doesn't matter if you're straight or gay or left/right.
