Regardless of who owns ATS or the political direction it takes; get ready to pay to play; just Speculation ...

The poster above said he wouldn't pay if ATS had a subscription. I think it's a good indication of what will happen if ATS requires some sort of fee in the future.

there was a thread on ATS the other day about censorship on X, so he is not the bastion of free speech he claims to be

and I certainly wouldnt pay £8 a month to use ATS

Wow. Twitters anti violent speech filters HYPER sensitive.

All platforms have filters that doesn't make them going against free speech. You can deter people from using inappropriate language and using the platform for unlawful operations, drugs, weapons, and so on. But you won't get your account suspended on twitter if you say am election was stolen. As far as I know thousands and thousands of accounts were reinstated when Musk took over, including prominent scientists and doctors who were arguing against certain medical products.

Hasn't he had enough failures to make people stop thinking he's some sort of genius?

Nobody said he is a genius.
What are his failures and why he isn't a good owner for ATS?

That's too much emotional talk but not any valid arguments. You said he is a narcissist who is selfish and so on. But in most platforms you can't really express what you want to say without the risk of having your account suspended. On twitter you won't get banned if you talk about elections, transwomen who aren't women, and the rest of the 'hot' topics.

I dont have an account on X, you keep reffering to it as twitter, did Musks rebrand not have the desired affect?, I find having conversations in person much more appealing and why on earth do I need to discuss transwomen?

Solar roof.
Hyperloop.
Self driving.
Mars colony.
Tesla semi.
Point to point rockets.
Starship... Boom!
Twitter going from $44 billion to $19 billion value.

What's wrong with a famous person taking over a relatively unknown platform.

The platform he already has is also facing extinction but if he took over here he would try to make it a subscription service and clutter it up with adverts.

If on the other hand he took over out of a sense of altruism to preserve the site then yeah , why not.

I don't know much about Rogue Nation but I wonder if these sites are being bought out and then left to die intentionally.

It would be the easiest way for organizations with money to stifle the counter culture.

Or part of the known gov censorship programs. 😀

It's always suspicious if you don't know who the owners are. At the very least people should know who is in charge of a platform they are participating.

And even if you THINK you know who the "owners" are, you never will know who the proxy funders are will you. 😀

For example, try to prove who the ATS "owners" are. Good Luck 😀

Ironic.

So much hate for the only guy on the big boys stage pushing back.

Public sentiment gets more and more all or nothing everyday.

I have to ask how a website is worth billions of dollars. Is it the ad revenue? I just dont understand this stuff. Its a website, its basically nothing.

And yet his net worth is 254.2 billion USD.

I'd take his brand of failure any day. LOL.

Yeah, some people can get stupid rich. Give me a couple million and you'll never see me again...lol

But

Allen Stanford
Elizabeth Holmes
Vijay Mallya

Sometimes success turns to failure.
I think Tesla is headed that way sooner or later.

Yeah, it's kinda hard to understand.
Basically the value is generated by ad sales.
YouTube was just a hosting site for user created videos and they made a lot of money by selling ads.

Allen Stanford $2 billion
Elizabeth Holmes $4.5 billion
Vijay Mallya $1.2 billion

Elon Musk $254.2 billion

I must have a different sense of scale than you. Hardy comparable when all three together at their height only account for 3% of Musk's current wealth.

ETA: It would be fun to see a long list of those in the grifter class that in the aggregate would match Musk's current $254.2 billion. I'm willing to bet that would drive home how remarkable Musk's financial achievements are.

I see you're very much against people giving you an opinion if you're not in favour of it in your thread.
Most platforms don't have a moron and failure claiming to be a champion of free speech, which is a valid reason for not wanting Musk to take over ATS.

I don't see anything wrong with Musk taking over this platform.

It looks like you've already solidified tour opion, so I don't see the point of your thread-unless you just like to argue.

I'd say the majority of old-timers here wouls hate to see BIG money take over ATS and dictate what can and can't be discussed. Algorythms are already deleting posts for no T&C violations and I suspct it's only going to get worse.
Add to that Musks' penchant for wanting to turn every venture-including 'Z'-into a for-profit organization. We'd no doubt have to pay for an 'upgrade' status to view forums in their entirety, or some would be blocked alltogether without a paid subscription.

I think that pretty much sums up the opinion of those who don't agree with yours.

Thread closed?

You can give me a valid opinion and that's fine. When you go on personal attacks against someone this isn't a valid opinion. You said he is a narcissist but that's not a valid argument on why he shouldn't take over this platform or another platform. Anyone can claim anything. You will have a good argument if he was to censor or ban debate on covid, vaccines, lockdowns, upcoming elections, immigration, the war in Gaza and so on. Being a narcissist or egoistical re irrelevant to this conversation.
