I really hope not, I'm out on my arse come April because the landlord is selling up.

Apparently, his mortgages have tripled and he's selling all his properties and moving on.

Canny even afford to get another private let with rents soaring to £850/950pcm in the area.

So 2024 should be an interesting year for our wee family. LoL

And I really can't see things looking up any time soon.

We've been well and truly done over.
I wonder how all those Red Wall voters who bought the Levelling Up lie feel now.

There's a much lauded new estate right next to where I live.
It was built allegedly to meet the towns urgent housing requirements.
A top of my head guestimate would be that close to 20% are now up for sale because the people who bought them can't afford the mortgages.
Where are they going to move to?
There's no council houses anymore and as you say, private letting has gone through the roof. Possibly more so than mortgages.

Two weans and a Mrs in tow as well buddy, ill come up with something, bloody have to.

My understanding is a Section 33 notice gets you one month's notice if that's how the landlord wishes to play it Oldcarpy2 under Scottish law and we do not have any squatter's rights.

Luckily my one is not a complete and utter bastard so like I said 5 months.

Two friends of mine have a fairly dire two-bedroom flat above a communal laundry somewhere on the outskirts of London. Can't remember where exactly but it wasn't a great area.

They pay £1400 pcm. Each.

Rents are outrageous all over.

First, it was people canny afford to eat properly, and now they can't even afford to put a roof above their heads.

If you'd like to stay local it'll be worth applying for local housing, depending where you live you'll be given priority banding or points which will move you up the register and give you more bidding options.

Surely you can find something online that you can use to back your story up if you look hard enough.

My credibility here on ATS, such as it may be, has been built up over 16 years of active membership. I don't need to pander to anyone or attempt to vindicate or validate myself.

MSM reporting was incredibly biased and one-sided playing up the narrative they want to project.
Their stereotyping and demonising was predictable and inaccurate.
