Most transsexuals don't have what they term "bottom surgery" - it's very expensive and if you have certain conditions (treated for cancer in the past - btw, learned this from a transwoman friend of mine who had cancer) you can't have the surgery because of the risks. No one is really "forcing" anything. You're simply being asked to use a preferred name and pronouns.

In a public library. Have you ever been to a public library? I have and haven't ever seen any of them offer anything more controversial than a book club. Furthermore, parents are usually present or in the area when there's a story hour (kids aren't automatically teleported there from strange locations.)

I don't know if you've noticed, but the screams of outrage aren't coming from parents who've taken their kids there. They come from people (often who don't even live in the same state) who see the words "drag queen" and go into an extreme moral panic. Kids just think it's silly - like watching Robin Williams in drag in "Mrs. Doubtfire."

There's a lot of screeching about this as well... but surgery on kids is very rare. It's done to correct ambiguous genitals (so they won't be bullied), but other surgeries aren't done until the person is an adult. I've even heard "I'm here, I'm queer, and I'm coming for your kids."

Did you look up the details behind that quote? I did. You should. All the discussion I saw here (confession: I quit reading after awhile) was "OMG! AGGRESSIVE GAYS COMING FOR OUR CHILDREN!!!" and not one single person that I saw looked into the full video of the incident.

That's the kind of society you folks want?

A society where women aren't locked into "stay in the kitchen and fix me a sandwich" roles? A society where "keep the baby, Faith" isn't forced on women? (you may not know the reference... in the sixties, we had the "keep the faith, baby" meme going around... free love and all that... which turned into the cruel "keep the baby, Faith" as the guys wandered off) Where boys are beaten and hurt because they're not "manly enough"? Where if someone wants to be called by a weird name (like "X AE A-XII Musk (one of Elon Musk's most recent children)) is accepted without hysteria is fine.

A world where you can wear whatever clothing you like, even if the viewer thinks it's tacky?

Yes, spent many afternoons there as a kid and teen. I still use a library today on occasion.

None of this is true. If it were, there wouldn't be litigation at present against doctors and hospitals for rushing through "gender affirming care" and transitional surgery.

I'm not sure what this has to do with the topic, but I don't know any women in the 21st century who are "barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen" except those who have made that choice for themselves.

As to addressing your question about being fired for refusing to follow your workplace policies, you had better have a very good reason why you don't think another human being deserves the same respect and dignity that you enjoy.

For all the apologizers here, and you know exactly who you are, this is not a thread to brag about calling others names out of meanness. If you say your name is Shiela, and you look like that guy Bob from the bar, I'll call you Shiela, as I have no other name to call you. But let's say you are that person, you introduce yourself to me as Shiela, you look just like a dude, and I mention you to someone else, and refer to you as a he. This is what you seem to think should be a firing offence. This is why I have a problem with this. If "Shiela" really is a she, and she looks a lot like a dude, and someone calls me out on it, the best you can hope for is me saying "sorry, she looks like a he, now I know".

There isn't an anger or hatred in it. Simply confusion. And if you want to fire me for that, bring your lawyer.
