New 'Orwellian' HHS pronoun mandate forces employees to 'deny reality,' violate law

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has rolled out a new gender pronoun policy that one Heritage Foundation expert and former HHS official says violates employee rights and will result in firings for "misgendering."

"HHS and the federal government is requiring its employees to speak falsehoods," Roger Severino, the Heritage Foundation’s vice president for domestic policy and the former head of civil rights at HHS during the Trump administration, told Fox News Digital.

Severino first broke the story on X, formerly Twitter, last week. He wrote that HHS "imposed a transgender pronoun mandate on its employees who will now be forced to deny biological realities with their own words or face firing" and he included a screenshot of an email sent to employees at the department.

I'd like to hear from the vocal transgender community here. Do you feel it's OK to have someone fired for not using the pronouns you wish to be called by?

I really want to know who is pushing this. It feels very Chinaesque. Why else would a government put this much effort into denying reality? It's not some obscure hidden reality, it's the "hey, that's a MAN baby!" and everyone must capitulate to the whims of the few who dictate the rules that weren't voted on by anyone.

Perhaps I just don't get it. All my life, I have had people mispronounce my last name. It's annoying, but not something I feel others should be fired for, or even admonished. It's actually a natural mistake. Whereas, calling a dude in a dress, by HIS name and not kowtowing to the wokeness and calling him "her, she" is also natural.

People will mispronounce my surname after asking me how to pronounce it. Very irritating.

Unlike the trans people I don't want them fired.

If you would insist on the correct spelling and people purposely misspelled it, they should absolutely get fired.

It's a form of bullying and has no place in a work environment.

oh geeeze. Lots of times trans people simply look too freaky to know if they are trying to live as a man or a woman. Many times you just can't tell. No one should be fired or jailed because of that. DUMB.

I would like to see such laws applied evenly, for instance, my wife gets offended when someone refers to her as my partner or when the kids' teachers try and call her the carer....she is also not one of "the guys" in a restaurant.

Sack all those idiots too then.

All of this woke garbage reminds me of a quote by Voltaire...

They have made it clear religion is among the targets in woke ideology. If they get their way, the first amendment will go away and you'll have no leg to stand on in court. Fortunately, we aren't there yet.

It does sound like something Chinaesque, a slippery slope if I ever saw one.
I'm thinking this is also a way for them to weed out 'non-woke' , nobody will want to work for these departments/goverment , unless you're 'woke' and agree with this ridiculous policy /mandate.

My first thought was, let them fire someone for this. The union will be all over it, for one (or should be, who knows anymore).

Ultimately, they will be reinstated, and will be paid a good sum for their troubles. Then this stupid policy will be dropped (if it hasn't already after Trump throws it out).

This would be true if everyone who calls themselves trangender woul really be one.
However I as a marrued, loyal woman can never be sure if I am being dragged into another's mental illness or, worse, feed some pervert's wet dream if I play their sex game and call them a woman.

I don't like being put into that position, that should be my right.
However if I call someone the pronouns I see with my own eyes, regardless if lipstick, dress and the obligatory piny tail, I feel that I have done nothing empirically wrong.
I say what I see and what I see is what can be scientifically proven with DNA.

I don't think I should be sacked for it.
Again, I am part of half the human population who are women.
How comes a handful of seriously confused people can get me sacked for not playing the Emperor's new clothes game?

It's not rights these people want. It's privileges which can now get the healthy minded majority to lose their livelihood.

10 years ago I was fighting tooth and nail for trans people. I still know 3 who were old school and just want to live life without danger.
However the conduct of those few who want to rule the world now, have already turned me off towards the new lot.
Sad but natural.

I have the right not to accept fairy tales. I am part of a majority losing out to men in dresses.

This is completely different to women in trousers.
They don't take your medals or are predatoy in your men spaces.
And you know why?

Because they are still female and hence different from males.
