Not sure how modernized ATS is on the backend. There is someone that has super powers already doing something, at least for Djarums and DTOM.

The friend that helped Djarums and DTOM get ATS back on its feet is neither a mod nor sysadmin. There is no need to apply any of your IT knowledge here because what the friend did was far beyond most people's level of understanding, and highly unusual.

I had that problem with a Google account some time ago, and I told them I don't have a cell phone, so I couldn't give them a phone number.
Their answer: create a new account.

This is starting to get frustrating for those of us who are working hard to get people back on the site.

Just need to be patient, these things take time. in some ways it has wiped the slate clean and provided a fresh start for some, put an end to some old grudges. As for how they go, hopefully a bit more mindful and on topic. Already banned a few that don't play well with others, it saved this place.

With a sense of decorum restored, things are headed in the right direction. The priority work has been done to keep things afloat, the other repairs as we go. Been a few dramas around this place over the years, ain't its first, wont be its last.

How it bounced backed after such a problem is a testament to the nature of the community around it.

I am really sorry to harp on about this but this has me intrigued. I presume that when you made your five figure investment that you became, however minor, a shareholder. You didn't just hand over a wad of cash and say do as thou wilt with it surely? When the sale took place did you first relinquish those shares or were the shares incumbent with the purchase?

Now, I am not for a moment implying that holding shares in any way equates to ownership. Not at all. LLCs don't operate like that but it does appear as though you got shafted and I am just trying to ascertain at what point said shafting took place.

Not so much that, but attacks by mod friendlies go unnoticed, while minor self defense responses get a person banned.

It's arbitrary when it's defined in the ToS as 'manners'.

And the response is 'responsible for own behavior'.

Reminds me of the kid that got beat up at school by a fascist bully and his crowd, get one punch in, and gets expelled for fighting.

Exactly, the recover took some time, but only lasted a couple of days, and none of this selective patching one account at a time.

ATS is hosted by GoDaddy. So I don't think ATS has dedicated servers and all support responsibility.

Okay, banning serves as a way to remove or delete a profile. Can one request to have a profile removed?

Thank you for explaining this for me. You don’t need to find the T&C. I should probably go back and look myself if I’m going to continue to question the new system.

There is nothing suss about Djarums asking for gmail! Djarums tried two different hotmail addresses for me, and the reset link never arrived to either of them, multiple times over a few hours. I made a quick burner gmail, and it came through in seconds. What, you think he's harvesting emails?? Good Lord! Give your head a wobble.

Any explanation as to why the hotmails didn’t work? The fact that only gmail account work might have something to do with the fact that the site im my opinion is still compromised.

Not sure to be honest. All I know is I tried two hotmails. One I'd had for years and was my original sign up email for ATS, then I made a burner hotmail, which again failed to receive the reset link. At no point in trying to get back in did Djarums ask for gmail as he had no reason to. It was me who decided to try gmail, as hotmail wasn't playing.

I've also seen a post in one of the theads to say someones hotmail/outlook DID work, so I think it's just pot luck which you use. I was just unlucky. So I tried a gmail and it was through straightaway. Djarums didn't say ONLY gmail accounts work, he said they were working better. Just saves faffing around I suppose. I think he has enough to do at the moment. For which I'm grateful.

New users per day show a big increase, but the maximum was 161 on October 21, with a fast decrease.

September 22 shows the previous highest activity around 30. The jump to 170 im guessing is all of us coming back with new emails to the current version of this site.

Even though the spike drops it still shows around 50 new members at the last measured date. If 30 is the previous high that is still a solid increase above the average.

DJarums said he has processed 500 old accounts back to life, with each account needing a new email.
How many of the 500 also made a new account with a new email in that 170 spike.

So when I said a doubling effect, that’s what I meant.

really if you using a fake / throw away one,What difference at this point does it make.
if it was a hack, who's to say they didn't copy all the emails first.

i didn't use gmail cause they want my cell number. i get enough junk now don't need anymore or them selling it and no matter what they say you know they are. a few years back i had one gmail account that i only used for purchases, i started getting text and voice mail on my phhone for that name from site and companies i never even heard of. now was it the sellers that i bought from or gmail i couldn't say. but since i have quit using my cell for recovery i don't get near as much.

proton or skiff should be just fine.

Your "theory" is based on incomplete information and its silly for you to have any theory in the first place when you wont go look at the evidence of what happened

Its not the "story or the players" its the story of how the first people were let back in and early theories/answers to questions

But it seems you like your ignorance.... And thats what it is... You use your refusal to learn about what happened as a shield against the truth .
