Burisma wasn't being investigated for what happened when Hunter Biden was on their board. They were being investigated for what happened between 2010-12.
You assert that Joe Biden got Shokin fired for personal gain. There is no evidence of that, and in fact there is overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Burisma wasn't being investigated for what happened when Hunter Biden was on their board. They were being investigated for what happened between 2010-12.
So Shokin is corrupt, gets axed because the rest of the world says so. Then what?
Burisma/Z gets investigated, arraigned, charged and convicted...right? RIGHT?
Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company, was being investigated for corruption related to permits granted by the Ministry of Ecology for the use of natural resources1. The investigation was conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, an independent agency. The role of Hunter Biden, the son of Joe Biden, on the board of Burisma was also questioned by some U.S. senators, who alleged a possible conflict of interest with U.S. anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) said an investigation was ongoing into permits granted by officials at the Ministry of Ecology for the use of natural resources to a string of companies managed by Burisma.
So, with Shokin gone, that investigation would be able to continue under the NABU where it has remained dormant.
Ukraine has widened its investigation into the founder of energy company Burisma to include suspicion of embezzling state funds, Prosecutor General Ruslan Ryaboshapka said on Wednesday.
-----
After he took office in late August, Ryaboshapka launched a wide-ranging audit of criminal cases to see whether they had been conducted properly. Thirteen of them relate to Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky, Ryaboshapka told reporters at a briefing on Wednesday.
-----
Ryaboshapka’s predecessors oversaw a series of investigations into Zlochevsky, a multimillionaire former minister of ecology and natural resources. The allegations concern tax violations, money-laundering and licences given to Burisma during the period where Zlochevsky was a minister.
The European Commission praised Ukraine’s Prosecutor-General Viktor Shokin for his efforts to fight corruption in a December 2015 progress report published nine days after then-VP Joe Biden demanded his ouster.
The report flies in the face of Biden’s claims that the European Union joined his demands that Shokin be removed for being corrupt and obstructing anti-corruption reforms.
The Commission adopted the fifth progress report on Ukraine’s implementation of the
VLAP on 8 May 20155
. The report stated that the progress achieved by the Ukrainian
authorities in the implementation of the second phase of the VLAP was noteworthy. In line
with the methodology outlined in the VLAP, the Commission organised on-site evaluations
involving experts from EU Member States. The report was accompanied by an assessment of
the potential migratory and security impacts of future visa liberalisation for Ukrainian citizens
travelling to the EU
2.3.1. Preventing and fighting organised crime, terrorism and corruption
2.3.1.1. Preventing and fighting organised crime
On 26 May 2015 the President of Ukraine approved the National Security Strategy, which
aims at defining the overall vision and direction of the reform process. The Strategy is a
good step forward.
The complex reform process of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the agencies responsible
for preventing organised crime is ongoing. The authorities aim to establish competences of
the law-enforcement agencies’ remits clearly, including a clear chain of responsibility for the
investigation and prosecution. Key elements of the reform, such as clear jurisdiction and
preventing functions overlapping in the fight against organised crime should be further
followed -up.
The Ukrainian authorities undertake efforts to reduce the pre-trial investigative powers of
the Security Service for intelligence and counterintelligence. On 21 November 2015, the
President signed the law aimed at the optimising law-enforcement powers in pre-trial
investigation. The competence on the pre-investigative powers of illegal smuggling was
transferred from the Security Service to the Ministry of Interior. The specialization of judges
and prosecution for organized crime cases has been further considered.
To ensure effective witness protection, the Ukrainian authorities will consider the allocation
of resources for the next budgetary period. A new procedure for cooperation on witness
protection issues and consistent application of witness protection orders is envisaged.
The preventing and fighting organised crime benchmark is deemed to have been
achieved
It's simple logic, if Shokin was corrupt, then why wasn't Burisma ever brought to account?

Burisma, an energy company, is being investigated by Ukraine for embezzling state funds1. The founder of Burisma is under investigation for this crime1. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is also investigating permits granted by officials at the Ministry of Ecology for the use of natural resources to a string of companies managed by Burisma, but the period under investigation is 2010-2012, before Hunter Biden was hired by the company2.
A Ukrainian investigation of gas company Burisma is focused solely on activity that took place before Hunter Biden, son of former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, was hired to sit on its board, Ukraine’s anti-corruption investigation agency said.
Furthermore, there is still no evidence that there was an international effort to get Shokin removed.
There is no evidence that Joe Biden's dangling a $1 billion threat in December, pushed Poroshenko to fire Shokin.
But 6 days after Legarde spoke with Poroshenko, dangling a $40 billion threat, he had Shokin's resignation.

Christine Lagarde, the IMF’s managing director, said on Wednesday that Ukraine needed to make a “substantial new effort” to invigorate reforms, warning that without such a push “it is hard to see how [a $40bn IMF-led rescue of the economy] can continue and be successful”.
