I think it's because Tal Hamman is a hip address these days. They're not too worried about any possible airbursts either. And it's hard to stop the droves. Many are moving there. Many more than are staying away.

How old are the kids that can check out these books? I couldn't find anything in the article besides mentioning school districts?

If its elementary school, I get parents being a bit upset if their kid can check these books out. However, I don't see the issue if it's high school level kids.

Furthermore, is anyone actually checking these books out? I'd be suprised if these were being checked out by kids and being kept from their parents.

This might be an issue ... in an amish society..

I think it is all a bit silly that parents are worried about gay books referencing sex in libraries but then they give their kids access to the internet which has 1000x more graphic sexual content.

Yet, none seem to have an issue giving their kids access to the internet. Kids aren't dumb either, with raging puberty theyll find a way around any parental blockers.

I get if the books are openly displayed and being encouraged to read to young kids ; but are they? HOw many kids actively checking books like this out?

Seems like a wierd thing to get upset about in this day and age.

What kids are using books like this for "porn"? It's not the 1990s...

If one wanted to take up issue with kids having access to the internet at such a young age ... I would totally understand that arguement.

But a book talking about gay sex? That's not whats causing people to get addicted to porn lol. If anything, itd be better if kids only had books referencing sex, no internet, and had to experiance sex with a partner like most of history.

Parents should be watching what their kid does on the internet, not getting upset over books..

It was in Colorado, but I just looked and it appears the sex ed class varied on region.

That explains a lot; Colorado has always been a leader in anything controversial.

I'm so glad my last two kids weren't subjected to those kinds of choices in their school curriculum circa 1999 and 2004.
