From my understanding fasces, as a word survived to this day, so clearly it has been tested throughout the ages, and it has meant the same as it did back in Roman or Greek times. Obviously during certain periods it has been taken far out of context and used to commit evil acts, but so has the swastika.

Still.
It's rather like calling the American system as Bald Eagleism or some such.
Or National Socialism Swastikaism....
Or Communism Hammer And Sickleism.
The Fasces is a symbol of governmental authority, yes.
But what the OP is doing is taking a symbol and blowing it way out of proportion.

Which leads one to wonder why.
And it's not hard to see the easiest explaination.

Good political comedy there.
The word is Fascii , not Fasces .
And that is the arms and stand of Lincoln's chair.
You didn't really expect them to use thin legs when holding up that kinda weight .
Gosh .

I was under the impression:

"fasces" was Vulgar Latin;
"fascio" was Italian?

You may be more inclined in etymology though.

Your title states --> "Representative Republicanism IS Fascism" (capital on the IS)
And then you say --> "I do not intend to trigger anyones delicacies with my choice of words. I am not attributing neither positive nor negative to the 'structure' of "fascism"."

I'm not triggered lol, I just think it's funny, that is the level of hypocrisy.
It would almost be like me starting a thread title of -->"Some Democrats are Smarter Than Others, But They're All Stupid"
And then follow that up with an opening line of "I do not intend to trigger anyone's delicacies with my choice of words. I am not attributing neither positive nor negative to the 'structure' of the word "stupid"."

You might want to choose better wording lol

Cheers - Dave

With the minds here on ATS, I could imagine such intelligent people being faced with a conundrum that the idea "fascism" and "republicanism" are the same, because you've been perverted with false understandings and realistically decades old WW2 propaganda. This experience is called being "red-pilled," prompting a profound shift in ones perspective, arguably revealing a more authentic worldview.

There you go again lol. republicanism or conservatism, if they can be equated as the same thing, is not fascism. Republicans are not the ones saying we have to ban free speech or "burn books" or censor words or force people into some kind of box. The democrats and lieberals are doing exactly that, they actually live and breath fascism. It's like the blatant corruption by the prime moron in Canada. It keeps getting caught in all manner of high crimes, nepotism, ethics violations, bangs a 14 year old girl and skates, high treason and sundry malfeasance, and it keeps saying that it didn't happen or "the other person experienced the sticking of my pecker in their ear differently or moistly." Then the bought and paid for CBC, Global, CTV, whatever media propaganda engine pipes up and says it didn't happen.

The world has gone full retard, the literal definition of fascism is ANTIFA and yet somehow all these liberals are at loss in figuring this out because ANTIFA claims to be anti-fascism. BLM is another joke that skates on the woke/sjw narrative and then they commit fraud, looting, killings, but hey, it's ok, some relative 10 generations ago was abused by some white guy's relative 10 generations ago, so looting good, killing good, tearing down statues good. Anybody who supports these idiotic fascists are as nuts as they are.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste and there's a lot of people out there wasting theirs...

Cheers - Dave

To be fair, the national socialists burned books.
Don't think fascists in Italy did.
They are different things.

To be fair, the lieberals/democrats are creating censorship which is akin to burning books. The fascisti in Italy, if I remember, did burn books and fascism is the merger of corporate totalitarianism and communism (which looks a lot like nazism), which is exactly where these clowns are going. So they may not be the "same" thing exactly, but the end result is exactly the same thing.

I've not been able to find any references to them doing it is the thing.
I did check.

And yea, both were Totalitarian.
Like Communism.
Italian Fascism wasn't anti-semitic.
There were Jewish Fascists.
Anti-semitism was largely Marx and Hitlers bags.

You've obviously never read what fascism actually is.
Read Giovanni Gentile and/or Benito Mussolini and then you'll know what you're talking about.

Fascism predates Giovanni Gentile and Benito Mussolini.

How can you sit there and tell me I don't know what im talking about, when you're using the modern day issuance of fascism when I clearly explained how fascism were lectors from ancient rome that represented a "senators" area of control. And to be told fascism isn't literally representative democracy is a farce.

Your idea of "fascism" has evolved from what you are told in history class. My idea of "fascism" has evolved from the root of the word, when the word was first used, how it was used, why it was used and where it was used.

And I don't think 90% of the people ITT understand what OP is trying to convey... so why are people bringing up what modern fascism is when OP is trying to explain how the symbolism of classical fascism is widely used for what it represented at a different time.

Thank you. The fact a few of you understood goes to show.

It's like when I try to make people understand Nazism was literally a left-wing ideology. We can attribute anything we want emotionally from what we know and have perceived to these words. But these words, like symbols, are ALWAYS true. Nazis were a group of nationalistic germans who wanted to create a better country for Germans (not an endorsement). Especially after the crippling economy post-ww1. Social programs galore, Hitler even made a mass produced car like Henry Ford so he could bring cheap and affordable cars to poor Germans, Volks Wagon...the PEOPLES car. That IS left-wing. Just because he shot guns and killed a bunch of people doesn't automatically equate it with right-wing. Authoritarianism can exist right OR left. The Nazis claimed jurisdiction over ALL collective and social activities. Not only did they persecute the Jews, they persecuted the Christians too. Hows that for "right-wing"?

What does banning books or any of that have to do with fascism....? While you're LITERALLY blind by an actual emotional response by confirming things you were told, is irrelevant to a fact... Etymology doesn't care about what you THINK or BELIEVE nor does it care what anyone told you. Its a true subject that cannot be changed.

Instead of thinking "MUSSOLINI, MUSSOLINI" when you see the word "Fascism", think "represent" when you see the word fascism. As in a LICTOR, holding a FASCES, REPRESENTS (magistrates) a land under the control of a Roman Senator..... It's a complete unfounded stigma. Mussolini was an authoritarian that wanted to reintroduce a Roman era styled governance. JUST LIKE WE DO, DING DING

Nice thread, even when you took all the wind out of their sails there is always an outboard motor that runs on fear.

I think it's appropriate to leave a link to one of the ATS must read threads...

all roads lead to rome

Have fun

He took the wind out of no one's sails. He's referencing a history and trying to connect dots he doesn't have enough knowledge of to write about. He's not alone. Most of us are sketchy on our own history and it's nuances, let alone ancient history.

If the dots are there to connect, then so be it.

I can show you the fascist symbols across America. No avail.

I can show you how we based our governing body on the Roman Republic. No avail.

I can teach you about lictors. No avail.

I can teach you about the power structure in the Roman and American senates respectfully. No avail.

I can show you the numerous Republican nations that existed and hosted a Fasces in their flag. No avail.

The defender of the Republic rests his hands on Fasces. I think that's the most telling part... The ultimate lictor of the representative state.

Did the government say otherwise? So it is your opinion? I have not quoted the 1940's or Mussolini in the ENTIRETY of my OP.

My op went right over the heads of the majority of you. But a few got it. A few saw the writing all over the wall.

Kudos to you all my friends. Back to my hiatus in this thread
