Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who has been investigating criminal allegations against President Biden's surviving son, Hunter Biden, has been named a special counsel, Attorney General Merrick Garland said Friday. Weiss made the request to be special counsel to Garland on Tuesday of this week.

Weiss, a Trump appointee as U.S. attorney who was retained during the Biden administration, has been investigating Hunter Biden since 2019. He reached a tentative plea deal with Hunter Biden, but it collapsed amid scrutiny from a Delaware federal judge.

Garland has just announced that he had appointed Weiss as a special counsel in the Hunter Biden case.

I'm not sure what this really changes as Weiss already had the authority to bring charges in any jurisdiction. But I guess Weiss thought it was a necessary step.

This is a developing story so I'm sure more details will be forthcoming.

This is a cover.

They waited until the statute of limitations expired for some of the major crimes.

Now that some of those dangers are passed, this was done to give the remainder of the Hunter investigation a false air of legitimacy for when they come out and completely exonerate Joe.

If this was serious, it would've been done years ago.

No, it ties to Daddy... The big guy.

President Joe Biden has been resisting this interview by special counsel prosecutor Robert Hur for a month.

WHY?

Because for at least 12 years, he illegally removed highly classified documents from their secure areas.

Kept many of them in his GARAGE.

And likely sold the contents for Biden crime family income, as emails on Hunter Biden's laptop indicate.

Which ones, specifically?

Tax crimes from the mid 2010s when Joe was still VP have expired. Just a coincidence I'm sure.

But....but...but..I was told:

A DOJ spokesperson told ABC News in a statement, "The Department cannot comment on the matter. As to any investigation of Hunter Biden, as the Attorney General has said that investigation is being handled by U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who has full authority to make investigative decisions and to bring charges in any jurisdiction as he deems appropriate. I refer you to U.S. Attorney Weiss for any questions concerning his investigation."

This was likely done because the judge blew up Hunter's immunity deal. Now the special counsel, who has shown himself to be very friendly toward the Bidens, can stonewall for him. Inquiries from Congress will go unanswered and any other attorney that might have had the balls to try to pick anything up in their jurisdiction will get ordered off of it.

Yeah, this will fall off the map.

Any reporter asks Joe a question will get, "We cannot discuss an ongoing investigation with Special Council".

Doesn't this kind of prove the veracity of that statement?

Weiss felt that he now needed special counsel status and it was promptly granted.

It's weird that a prosecutor from the state where a potential crime was committed is the prosecutor for that case?

This special counsel appointment actually violates the law, my bolding:

§ 600.3 Qualifications of the Special Counsel. (a) An individual named as Special Counsel shall be a lawyer with a reputation for integrity and impartial decisionmaking, and with appropriate experience to ensure both that the investigation will be conducted ably, expeditiously and thoroughly, and that investigative and prosecutorial decisions will be supported by an informed understanding of the criminal law and Department of Justice policies. The Special Counsel shall be selected from outside the United States Government. Special Counsels shall agree that their responsibilities as Special Counsel shall take first precedence in their professional lives, and that it may be necessary to devote their full time to the investigation, depending on its complexity and the stage of the investigation.

Weiss is a US Attorney, ultimately responsible to the AG, who is Biden's wingman. They're supposed to bring in an outside investigator to be Special Counsel to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest.

Bringing an outside investigator would put Joe at risk, so they violated the law to avoid that.

Now that he's special council, he can't be called to testify to congress about how his initial investigation was ham-stringed bu the DOJ.

The Attorney General of the United States literally just violated US law on national television.

And it's not like this is some obscure clause. Before doing something like this, they would obviously have consulted the relevant statutes to make sure they did everything properly. The Special Counsel statute isn't long, it's not like it's dozens or hundreds of pages of complicated legalese someone could have misunderstood. There's no way that could've been overlooked or it was simply a mistake.

But they also know most of the public will never find out about it. The Democrat media and Democrat Big Tech will make sure of that.

Technically it's not a law. It's a regulation. Also, it's not without precedent. In 2003, Comey appointed Patrick Fitzgerald as special counsel despite him being an active US attorney.

You probably should have read the article before blasting out the first thought that popped into your mind.

If you had, you would know that the negotiations for a plea deal that the judge imposed on both the prosecution and the defense last month have collapsed. In return for pleading guilty to the two misdemeanors, the defense wanted the prosecution to agree that Hunter couldn't be prosecuted for any other of his business deals that might have been crooked. The prosecution refused, and now Hunter wants to withdraw his guilty pleas and take the case to trial and take his chances with a jury.

That's why the prosecutor is now getting special counsel status--so he can take the case to trial independent of Merrick Garland.

It proves that the whistleblower who claimed that Weiss didn't have full authority was correct.

Why would Weiss need a special council if he already had full authority?
