We never got an explanation for the "water main break"

Actually we did. It turned out to be a leaky urinal. So we are told, at least.

I'm not looking for a link, you'll have to trust my memory on this one or do your own research.

How do we know he is lying?

He's a lawyer.

From the videos we saw starring these people, many of us came to the same conclusions as Rudy.

He was over the top with his insults and namecalling, as that is just being an ass and bad form.

But if he believed what he was saying, he was NOT lying.

A quote from the source:

Mayor Rudy Giuliani did not acknowledge that the statements were false but did not contest it in order to move on to the portion of the case that will permit a motion to dismiss,” Goodman said. “This is a legal issue, not a factual issue. Those out to smear the mayor are ignoring the fact that this stipulation is designed to get to the legal issues of the case.”

Have you ever held an opinion that was erroneous? Have you ever changed your mind? Would that still be a "lie". Or would it just you being wrong?

Its difficult to prove someone deliberately lied. The people that call people liars when they hold a different opinion are acting like jerks.

He came to conclusions with no evidence. That's not an opinion. Don't forget when Guiliani and Ellis were pressing Rusty Bowers, and Bowers asked for proof of fraud, Bowers testified that Rudy told him, "We've got lots of theories, we just don't the have evidence." And once again, his opinion may have been something was wrong or illegal, but the statements he made, which I quoted in my other post, were flat out lies.

I can certainly change my opinion and it's not a lie. If my opinion is something like, "well, I think that Rudy may have committed a crime in perpetuating the election fraud nonsense". Then I find out he had nothing to do with it. The opinion changes. If I flat out say, Rudy committed election interference and is a criminal. Then I find out he had nothing to do with it, yes I lied, because I had no evidence other than what I thought, but claimed he did it anyway.

I saw the same video evidence and came to the same OPINION.

There are no rules about evidence when forming opinions. Some people come to it based on vibes or hunch or spidey-sense.

Opinions are beliefs. We are entitled to our own thoughts and beliefs without fear of "thought crime".

ETA: and you really are spinning Rudy's statement. I read it as 'we don't have the evidence' YET. As in asking for audits and examinations based on the funny looking statistics.
So are you lying when you said Rudy purposely lied?

So you saw it and thought the same thing. You would go out and publicly announce by name that Ruby was a "crook", a "ballot stuffer", " a political operative", because you thought? I mean cool, but again, it's not an opinion. And here you go again, you're putting words in Rudy's mouth. It's your opinion that he meant "yet", however it would be a lie if you say he said "we don't have evidence yet".

2 ladies in Georgia getting harassed. Or an entire nation being undermined by a cheating regime and an illegitimate, unelected leader.

Those two 'ladies' also admitted to being a part of said cheating machine, so deserve far more than just harassment.

I held those opinions, and maybe said that to a friend. Sure, why not? Rudy just had the public megaphone.

'YET" was implied in that this was early in the debate, and there was not time nor effort to FIND EVIDENCE.

So, no, I would assume someone would be smart enough to realize that YET wasn't an important modifier in the known context.

You cant say based on what he said that he was lying either, but you do. Because it sounds more nefarious.

How many times do we see on cop shows that they KNOW who the perp is, they are trained experienced professionals. Yet they also don't have enough evidence to make an arrest.

Would you say to your sargent: sir, we have lots of theories, but no evidence. What would your Sargent say? Look elsewhere then? Or follow those theories?

Rudy speaks like the cop he was.

a good number of conservatives believe something shady happened with the 2020 election. I think I know what happened, but until/unless it's proven, it will remain an idea in my head.

I don't know what Rudy and The Kracken lady were doing, but they screwed this up massively and made the entire thing exactly what the left wanted it to be, a sh!t show. They provided all the meme's needed by just lying I suppose to stroke Trump's ego.

It almost seems as if it were on purpose. Rudy was a good lawyer, and a good mayor, thus, he should know, it's not what you know, it's what you can prove. They didn't do the right investigations and were full of sh!t when they did speak.

The 4 seasons presser was so epic I had to hide.

And for the haters, Trump handled it like a child, he could have done so much better. But he is still a much better leader than Joe, and if Joe is the left's choice, it looks like Trump will be 47. So get your impeachment game out again, we might get 3 this go round.

Sydney Powell was a very respected federal prosecutor, the youngest woman to hold the position. She successfully wounded the Banditos biker club in the SW. Put a bunch of bad people in jail. And not afraid to tackle them.

Im still a fan of hers, and it breaks my heart that she got caught up in the insane. She isn't crazy. There WAS something there.

Rudy was a dumpster fire practicing alcoholic. Powell distanced herself after he showed up roaring drunk to their morning tiger team meeting. He was a loose cannon from his drinking and brought the whole thing to miserable embarrasing failure.,

I don't know how the Kracken thing got started, but it was unfortunate that her legacy was ruined by this out of control drunk.

Funny how that day was the end with the hair dye dripping down.

That's not exactly what he is saying.

He is saying that an opinion is not a lie, and is protected by the 1st.

I agree with him on that.

ETA: from you source:

While Giuliani does not admit to Plaintiffs’ allegations, he — for purposes of this litigation only — does not contest the factual allegations,” the filing said.

No, he is admitting to lying by acknowledging the factual allegations of the case. And the lies he told caused harm to the plaintiffs. People were protesting out in front of their house, and they were receiving threats on account of Giuliani's lies about them. That is what defamation is about. Yes, he's free to say what he wants, but he is liable for the consequences of false claims he made against others. By admitting to the factual allegations of the case, he is acknowledging that he lied about the two women. The only thing he is now contesting is that his words did them harm.

Also, the One America News Network was originally named in the lawsuit because it had been pushing the same lies, but reached an out of court settlement, so it appears Mr. Shoe Polish Face doesn't have a leg to stand on in this case.

Yes, he defamed them, because he did not phrase his accusations in such a way that it would have been, look at these ladies, they seem to be exhibiting suspicious behavior! Can we have someone look into it?

I completely blame Rudy for bungling the very critical few weeks of an election challenge. Trump doesn't know how to hire. I've said it a dozen times here.

I don't know what else I can tell you.

I truly don't know what happened during the election, but I don't believe it was legit, I believe there was tons of cheating going on, and that the cheat is already happening for 2024. This is my opinion.

Are you going to sit there and call me a liar?

As has already been pointed out, he saw and heard the same evidence I and others here have already pointed out to you, multiple times, and it is self evident that these 'ladies' are guilty as hell.

That's not an opinion.

Well, that is your opinion, but unlike Rudy's, it is wrong...

He did more than say these women looked suspicious and should be investigated,

Even after Fulton County and Georgia officials refuted accusations against Ms Freeman and Ms Moss, Mr Giuliani continued to share false claims that they had pulled thousands of fraudulent ballots from a suitcase and fed them through voting machines.

Rudy Giuliani admits making false claims of Georgia voter fraud

And what exactly made them look suspicious, the pigment of their skin?

Evidently in your mind someone thinking a ginger mint is a flash drive is a reasonable level of suspicion.

Surveillance footage that Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani repeatedly claimed showed a Georgia election worker committing voter fraud with a USB stick really showed her holding a ginger mint, according to testimony on Tuesday in the 6 January hearings.

After the 2020 election, the former president and his lawyer repeatedly pointed to footage of Georgia election worker Shaye Moss and claimed it showed her using a flash drive and a suitcase to compromise the election.

Even after officials investigated and found that no voter fraud occurred, both men continued spreading the false claim, an experience that led Ms Moss and her mother to get violent, racist threats online.

‘USB drive’ Giuliani claimed was passed between election workers was really a ginger mint, witness tells Jan 6 hearing

As for the kraken lawyer, she may have previously had a solid or even distinguished career, but she jumped the shark in this endeavor, and had to contend with ethics charges on account of it. Need I remind you that Mr. Shoe Polish Face also at one time had a good reputation, and was even called America's mayor after 9/11?

Just a quick interjection..

I never understood how a police officer can take an oath to uphold your rights, and at the same time, be legally allowed to LIE to you in order to violate your rights they swore to uphold.

I guess I'm just weird.
