'Yes, I did lie, but under the First Amendment I should be allowed to lie'... that is basically the defense Giuliani and his team are taking in a lawsuit filed by two Fulton County employees.

Rudy Giuliani has conceded that he made public comments falsely claiming two Georgia election workers committed ballot fraud during the 2020 presidential race but is arguing that the statements were protected by the First Amendment.

That assertion by Giuliani, who as part of Donald Trump’s legal team tried to overturn results in battleground states, came in a filing Tuesday in a lawsuit by Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss. Their lawsuit from December 2021 accused the former New York City mayor of defaming them by falsely stating that they had engaged in fraud while counting ballots at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

The two women have filed a lawsuit against Rudy, alleging that his words and actions have put their own safety and their lives in danger. They will no longer have to prove that Rudy lied about them as he admitted to that in court, they will now only have to prove that his words caused actual injury to them.

Though Giuliani is not disputing that the statements were false, he does not concede that they caused any damage to Freeman or Moss. That distinction is important because plaintiffs in a defamation case must prove not only that a statement made about them was false but that it also resulted in actual damage.

Moss told the U.S. House committee investigating the Capitol riot that her life was shattered by the false accusations. She said she received hateful and racist messages, some “wishing death upon me. Telling me that I’ll be in jail with my mother. And saying things like, ‘Be glad it’s 2020 and not 1920.’”

Freeman said in her testimony: “There is nowhere I feel safe.”

One question keeps popping into my head... who protects our entire nation from defamation? These people can file a lawsuit and protect themselves, but these lies caused injury to our entire nation, to our legal system and our electoral process, our democracy. We all got defamed, as a country, and there is really no way to file a lawsuit as a nation against these liars and opportunists.

Oh well, at least we can enjoy these moments when these liars have to admit, in court, under oath, that all they were doing was lying about the election. They have a First Amendment right to lie and that's all they were doing. Despicable.

That's not exactly what he is saying.

He is saying that an opinion is not a lie, and is protected by the 1st.

I agree with him on that.

ETA: from you source:

While Giuliani does not admit to Plaintiffs’ allegations, he — for purposes of this litigation only — does not contest the factual allegations,” the filing said.

We saw the videos

We heard Ruby's admission.

We never got an explanation for the "water main break"

Everyone knows it happened.

2 ladies in Georgia getting harassed. Or an entire nation being undermined by a cheating regime and an illegitimate, unelected leader.

In 2024 when Biden somehow "gets" 120 million votes, people like Rudy will still be viewed as a villain.

666Lying for political purposes should carry a stiff penalty, starting with Russiagate. The amount of lying and false/planted evidence has gotten out of hand and both parties need a rude awakening in the 'justice' system.

Lets clear up the difference between opinions and lies.

The 2020 election was irregular and full of problems. There is no way to know how many valid votes were cast for which candidates.

There were not many audits. Recounts and audits are not the same.

Additionally, with all the shenanigans from the Russia collusion witchhunt, the Ukraine phone call impeachment witchhunt and hiding the Biden laptop and lying about it by the FBI, some could say the election was heavily and unjustlyt influenced.

We know that the EC voted for Biden, so he is the legit POTUS.

But it is not a lie to say there was problems in the election and that Trump might have actually won the voting.

It's UNKNOWABLE. Therefore, what everyone believes or not about the election is an OPINION.

And that's just the way it is.

Frankly, I resent someone telling me my opinion is a lie. No it isn't. Neither is yours. Even if we disagree.

An opinion would be, "I believe there were irregularities"
Rudy said:

He called the 62-year-old temp worker a “professional vote scammer,” a “hustler” and a “known political operative” who “stuffed the ballot boxes.”He showed snippets of the video and repeatedly identified Moss and Freeman by name, calling them “crooks” who “obviously” stole votes.

He called them out by name and stated they were "crooks", "political operatives", that they "stuffed ballot boxes" and "obviously stole votes". This lead to death threats, people showing up at their house threatening them. So badly, they couldn't stay there. Because he told the good old zealous "Patriots" that these people committed a crime.

I can't even believe you would try to call that an "opinion". Smdh.

In a two-page statement filed in federal court just before midnight Tuesday, Giuliani said he “does not contest” that his statements, which fueled a torrent of public attacks on the workers — Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss — were “false” and “carry meaning that is defamatory.”

Has Rudi been disbarred yet?

He's facing calls for it in Washington from the bar discipline committee.

“He claimed massive election fraud but had no evidence of it,” the three-member panel declared in a 38-page decision. “By prosecuting that destructive case Mr. Giuliani, a sworn officer of the Court, forfeited his right to practice law.”

Giuliani plans to challenge the panel’s findings and recommended sanction in front of a larger bar-discipline board. His ultimate disbarment or other penalty would be decided by the D.C. Court of Appeals.

“We are obviously disappointed by the Committee’s decision but look forward to filing a vigorous appeal,” said Barry Kamins, one of Giuliani’s attorneys in the bar proceedings.

How are you so sure Biden cheated the election to become POTUS? There has been no evidence submitted in courts that prove it, and we have instances like this that make it look even less plausible that mass voter fraud occured.

Seems like people who like Trump want election fraud to be real, so its hard to tell if there is actually any substance to it since most people who claim election fraud are Trump supporters.

Don't believe anything that Giuliani says when he was mayor of NYC, he made himself a hero in one of the most tragic events, the World Trade Center attack. This two-face scumbag should be ashamed to show his face in public. But like most politicians their whores for the rich people.

I'll share some of it with you, since I know that this information can be hard to come by with all the information control and censorship in the US.

How do we know he is lying? What proof do the two women have that they did nothing wrong? Seems people are more concerned with two people who got caught than the actual investigation into voter fraud.
