What do you think about the summer weather in the UK this year?

And you state that 2024 will be warmest ever.......let's wait and see.

Hot June, pretty normal July and August. Quite wet at times. Could be quite a warm September.

Personally I found it very nice.

But when looking at global climate I tend to look at the global climate, not one insignificant little island. There's now a good chance 2023 will be the warmest year on record (we've had record heat on every continent over the past 3 months) - but whether it is or not, I expect 2024 to be even warmer.

That's what happens when you change the way you measure.

Surface temps are reported now.

Before it was 5 ft off the ground.

For temperature readings to be accurate and meaningful, thermometers should be located five to six feet above the ground (ideally not over a paved surface) to minimize the effect that the underlying ground itself might have on temperature. Thermometers also should not be exposed to direct sunlight.

No they are not! ESA simply publicised a map showing surface temps from one of their satellites and a bunch of ignorant tinfoil hatters jumped to a foolish conclusion. Actual temperatures are taken from properly sited weather stations - many of which you can access data for from here: weatherobs.com...

As an aside, just seen that for the UK as a whole it was the 8th warmest summer on record (from 1884)
