Well now we have Elon lording over the 'cis' word and all will be banned who use it, whether derogatorily or not. It is his majesty's command.
He actually was saying a timeout more than a ban.

I'll take your word for it because Twitter is another dumpster dive site. Has anyone actually followed the interaction between the two posters from start to finish? As I said before one person may have been baited or triggered to reply in the same underlying manner, that being derogatory. So both should have had a timeout, IMO.

ATS doesn't mind other slurs like "tranny" and "trannies" so you can be damn sure I will still use cis although I have never used it in a negative or demeaning way but rather as a simple designation between trans and non-trans people in the context of that discussion. I actually even try to avoid the term cis because it makes some sensitive babies lose their friggin' minds.

Maybe...
The main reason I did the OP is that in the past here on ATS I have been referred to Cis and no one asked my opinion. I typically would just blow it off but in the world today where I can now get in trouble with my HR if I misuse some stupid ass pronoun what gives these same people the right just to create a term to identify me without my permission?
In the latest episode of “Wealthy White Dudes Get Their Tender Feelings Hurt By An Adjective” self-proclaimed free-speech absolutist Elon Musk has decided the word “cisgender” is a slur.
The owner of one of the largest social media megaphones on the planet issued the following edict via tweet this week: "The words 'cis' or 'cisgender' are considered slurs on this platform."
This came as news to most people, as the word “cisgender,” according to Merriam-Webster, simply means: “of, relating to, or being a person whose gender identity corresponds with the sex the person had or was identified as having at birth.”
That’s doesn’t sound particularly slur-ish, but apparently if you’re rich and childish enough, you get to call the shots, so who am I to argue?

Funny isn’t it
Personally it’s not my business what those people do or care about, what mental issue they want to claim and how they act
I have come across a few of that kind and I show respect and for the most part, just try and avoid them altogether
What annoys me most, they have a mental issue and want me to play their game, I end up for no apparent reason to have a role in their mental issues, to be labeled by people with a mental issue.
I find cis offensive as it makes me a part of their mental condition, a label that is irrelevant to people with my view
Not that the word itself is offensive but the reason it exists

Why isn't cis a legitimate slur? Who decides what is and what isn't a slur?

We used to be able to offend people and folks would say, "I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
I'm against this, because I think we should be encouraging free speech no matter what is said.

There are many ways to be banned from ATS, so why are you not banned since you can say what you want, any way you want? You also would need to offend people face to face back in the day and that puts a whole new level to the internet warrior who says things at will without repercussions for what they said.

Is deliberately offending, or causing harm to someone actually free speech though? .

Is deliberately offending, or causing harm to someone actually free speech though? When it comes to discussing ideas, I agree, anything goes. If the act of reasonably discussing those ideas causes distress to someone, then that is unfortunate but it's life. Deal with it. But as soon as you turn those ideas into a weapon, and intentionally and deliberately use them to harm others, that is not free speech. That is abusive speech, and should be dealt with accordingly.

So it won't just be conservatives that are punished for something, and will now include the left. That is just so unfair isn't it.
