We used to be able to offend people and folks would say, "I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

I'm against this, because I think we should be encouraging free speech no matter what is said.

What a load of BS, back in the day people resorted to violence not polite 'agree to disagree' anything. What a joke.

AAAAAnd your post illustrates why we can't have nice things.

And your post illustrates that we never had nice things.

You must be young.

Pity.

Nope, I've seen it all back then and violence ruled.

But in the arena of speech, I must always side for more freedom than less.

That is directly in line with the government, not to you to me. Or let's say where you work, or the places you like to visit physically or virtually. What Twitter did in the past before Musk was 100% Politically motivated to one side. It is a strange-looking animal as it has a platform for 10s of millions while needing to try to toe some middle line. I think you can say "I disagree with this" while looking at what the old Twitter once did regularly as a WTF moment on each.

the term cis is othering language just as harmful as misgendering

you refuse to play the pronoun game, you also refuse the protections it affords from othering language

cant have it both ways

Both ways in telling me I must accept a label on myself and also accept that I must apply a custom label on others. That is not "both ways" it is the same damn thing, so I say no to both to make it easy.

Before we were having some feeble leftist call me a cis-gender on Twitter while I got banned for calling him a feeble leftist.

Now?

The same feeble leftist can call me a cis-gender but I get to reply and call him a feeble leftist.

I still have no idea what any of those made terms even mean, and I don't wanna know either.

Comment Closed.

It means "on this side of" and is used to identify someone who biologically aligns with their gender too. Ciswoman is just saying a real biological woman. They actually can't say that since it would suggest that trans females are not "real" women too, so they use the term Cis.

Cis and trans are Latin prefixes used in chemistry. They are antonyms with one meaning on the same side as and its opposite meaning on the other side of. When discussing transgender issues, the broadly used and widely accepted terms of cis and cisgender are valuable descriptors when discussing the differences between trans and non-trans people.

Anything can be used as a slur but intent is the key. I can be heterosexual, which I'm sure some snowflakes don't like either, but a gay person might use heterosexual in a derogatory way so should we ban that word too?

I'm sure this is going to help Twitter's ad revenue - not and lol!

ATS doesn't mind other slurs like "tranny" and "trannies" so you can be damn sure I will still use cis although I have never used it in a negative or demeaning way but rather as a simple designation between trans and non-trans people in the context of that discussion. I actually even try to avoid the term cis because it makes some sensitive babies lose their friggin' minds.

In all honesty, I had never even heard of Cis before you posted this, they lost me after LGBQT...
I watched the vid, so now I know, and I agree that Musk is right on this one.

I will never call anyone anything else then male or female, he or she.... that's it! And I really don't care about the L or G or B or Q or T's, they can do whatever they want, but it's about time that they leave everyone else out of it. So sick of it!

I have always considered it a slur, like a color word that comes from Latin.

I am a woman. Let there be man. Let there be woman.

Cis sounds like sissy and I hate it.

Well now we have Elon lording over the 'cis' word and all will be banned who use it, whether derogatorily or not. It is his majesty's command.

If you're upset by this. Wait until someone takes power and decides that people who claim men can be women are spreading disinfo and start arresting them for spreading Disinformation.

Because according to the DHS, your thoughts are "cognitive infrastructure" and need to be regulated...

Doesn't just the use of the word trans provide an instant descriptor? Why is there a need to extend anything else? Such as trans women and then just use women for biological ones.

Upset with what? To lean on the side to agree doesn't mean there are any emotions involved. I also do not see the Government doing anything here, but didn't Canada make it illegal to address someone by anything other than their preferred pronoun?

How would you know if you've never met them?

I might want to identify as Lord Emperor of The Earth.

But if you didn't know me, you'd get arrested?

That doesn't make sense.

You are not a real woman, you are just a ciswoman who is nothing more than a baby factory... Now a REAL woman looks kind of like a man...
