Not true. POTUS can not grant clearances. He automatically gets one under the elected official exemption but he cannot grant one to someone denied by DSS.
President Trump ordered his chief of staff to grant his son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, a top-secret security clearance last year, overruling concerns flagged by intelligence officials and the White House’s top lawyer, four people briefed on the matter said.
Mr. Trump’s decision in May so troubled senior administration officials that at least one, the White House chief of staff at the time, John F. Kelly, wrote a contemporaneous internal memo about how he had been “ordered” to give Mr. Kushner the top-secret clearance.
The White House counsel at the time, Donald F. McGahn II, also wrote an internal memo outlining the concerns that had been raised about Mr. Kushner — including by the C.I.A. — and how Mr. McGahn had recommended that he not be given a top-secret clearance.
The disclosure of the memos contradicts statements made by the president, who told The New York Times in January in an Oval Office interview that he had no role in his son-in-law receiving his clearance.
It is not known precisely what factors led to the problems with Mr. Kushner’s security clearance. Officials had raised questions about his own and his family’s real estate business’s ties to foreign governments and investors, and about initially unreported contacts he had with foreigners. The issue also generated criticism of Mr. Trump for having two family members serve in official capacities in the West Wing.

Oh my gosh seriously? Want to see drug results, mad they only found 3 crimes to charge him with.
I've never seen a group of people mad at the fact that a person they wanted charged with a crime, actually pled guilty to crimes. I mean you actually want them to create crimes that weren't substantiated in their investigation, to what, make you happy?

Yes, true. Wasn't a security clearance for Jared Kushner an issue, but Trump insisted upon one for him?

Sure seems like the prez can give a top-secret security clearance to whomever he wishes.
And people are worried about Hunter Biden sharing classified information?!?!?!?!? LOL

Hmm.. but there have been news reports that Kushner provided classified info while he was in his WH position, that MBS claimed Jared was "in his pocket". It's been linked here many times before. There was also a congressional investigation started, however Kushner did not comply with any requests, then it was killed by Comer to investigate Biden. Again linked previously.

What is amusing is seeing how little 2nd amendment opponents are saying about it. One would think they would be up in arms.
Well, it will make a good comeback next time there is a mass shooting.
Why pass more laws when those on the books arent enforced?
I wonder how many minority gang bangers are in jail for the same offense? They say not many, but I dont believe that. WaPo sure rushed to put out those 'facts'.
Have they realized the 2nd amendment blunder they've made yet? Or are they still trying to convince us that 'nobody is above the law'.
I hate these bastids.

A federal appeals court on Wednesday struck down a decades-old law barring users of illegal drugs from possessing firearms – the latest blow to US gun regulations after the Supreme Court cleared the way last year for courts to reexamine the nation’s gun laws under a new legal standard.
