War Stories - Russian POWs Give Their accounts of the War

Ordinary Russians lied to and put on a "Death Conveyer" speak to their Ukrainian captors about their experiences of Dictator Putin's special opperation.

Dmitry Sologub , the most recent detainee of this bunch of interviews and probably the youngest but Dmitry understands much about what this war is about.

Dmitry Sologub (Dmytro Sologub), 06.03.1996, Vladivostok, mobilized on October 4, 2022. Taken prisoner by the Defense Forces near the village of Staromlynivka, Zaporizhzhia direction. In this conversation, the POW told about how the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia direction began for the occupiers, the work of Western equipment, why Russians are only expendable material for their commanders, and why Russians in Russia need to start speaking.

Tolkachyov Pavlo from the 125th regiment of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic tells of his surprise at the treatment he's received since his capture and the lies he was told while serving.

Tolkachyov says that the way the Ukrainian military treated him in captivity changed his outlook. In this conversation, the prisoner also spoke about the terrible attitude of Russian commanders, how Russia cheats its soldiers with their salaries, and how it monitors the private conversations and correspondence of its military.

Denis Patrushev , poor Denis seems a bit accident prone , left to die by Wagner troops.

His fellow soldiers decided to abandon him. Later, the Defense Forces captured Denis and provided him with medical assistance.

Vladimir Yudin , Russian politicians sent me to die.

Much like when Russia posts their prisoner interviews, I'll take these with a massive grain of salt.

I told you all a year ago to not choose sides in this conflict. The only connections we have to this in the west is the connections our leaders have to the 2014 coup that overthrew a democratically elected president of Ukraine in 2014.

That's where you should be vocal in criticizing your leaders role in this conflict. Because there is plenty to criticize...

Don't see that you are in a position to tell me what I can or cannot do , you seem to have an overly high opinion of yourself.

I support our position in this conflict , I save my criticism for their misguided domestic policies and inability to control our border..

A democratically elected President who was elected on a pro-EU, neutral ticket who abandoned an EU Trade Agreement at the last minute in favour of a pro-Russian agreement, the exact opposite of the mandate he was elected to implement.
Quite unsurprisingly this sparked huge popular protests against Yanukovych which he suppressed quite violently resulting in the deaths of over 100 protesters and the imprisonment of thousands more.

Yanukovych is now enjoying the proceeds of the payments he received from The Kremlin to carry out this unpopular U-turn in exile in Moscow.

If this were true I'm sure Putin would be basking in his Greatness strolling around Kyiv. Yet here we are over a year in with a WWI like war of attrition being fought predominantly in eastern Ukraine. In addition the Russians are indiscriminately bombing anywhere and everywhere with relative disregard for tactical benefit or civilian casualties in the desperate attempt to claim some sort of victory.

Of course there is an element of propaganda in the reports coming from both sides.
I guess its up to each of us individually to decide what we wish to believe or dismiss.

It isn't difficult to imagine that this is likely or possible. You can't prove/ disprove that this isn't psychological warfare. So, assume it is.

You claim indiscriminate bombing, but it seems everytime a bomb hits an apartment block it was a Ukrainian air defense missile that causes it.

Kieve should be nothing but rubble according to your baseless indiscriminate bombing slogan. And yet, the metropolis continues to hustle and bustle with only intermittent power outages, power supplies being a legitimate target just as USA and our allies did to Iraq, Libya, Syria etc...

So these daily missile and drone attacks aren't happening?

They are and you are ignoring the very effective Ukrainian air defences.

No one is suggesting nuking Moscow. Russia has threatened to nuke Britain, though.

When they realize they are about to be slaughtered in the meat grinder, they surrender, knowing they will be returned via a prisoner exchange, ready to be sent right back into the thick of it.


I've seen videos of Ukrainian soldiers kneecapping Russian prisoners of war.

After finally realizing just how corrupt our government is, I don't trust a word spoken by anyone in this administration. That sentiment pretty well goes for most western governments, at this point.
