So someone who is indicted is guilty? How very Soviet of you. I hope in your lifetime you are never accused of something you did not do. It is a horrible feeling knowing you could be in trouble for something you did not do but others say you did.

Cannon has seemingly brushed off Trump and Nauta's request to delay the trial until after the election. However, she also didn't grant the DOJ's start date of December. A ruling is still forthcoming.

It was suggested to possibly hold off on narrowing down a start date until November after both parties give a status update on how things are proceeding at that time. However, that will ultimately be Cannon's decision.

My guess at this point, the trial will be delayed until next spring, possibly June.

The judge presiding over Donald Trump’s federal criminal case appeared skeptical Tuesday of the former president’s argument that the trial over his handling of classified documents should be delayed beyond the 2024 election, NBC News reported.

But Judge Aileen Cannon, whom Trump appointed to the federal bench, seemed no warmer toward the Department of Justice’s position that the trial should begin in mid-December.

“I can appreciate more time is necessary, but some deadlines can clearly be established now,” Cannon said.

Like I said above, we're most likely looking at a spring trial. Cannon asked if it was possible that the Manhattan case would get delayed. That case is currently scheduled for March. So that would imply she's looking around that time to start the trial.

Expect the J6 case to go to trial first. That one won't have to worry about CIPA, which is the main reason the documents case is getting delayed.

She should choose one year after the indictment, just like the Manhattan case.

Trump team will appeal, and Justice Clarence Thomas will have final say.

Cannon is bound by the Speedy Trial Act. Technically a case is supposed to go to trial in less than 70 days after the indictment. Thus, her original date of August. Now there are things that pause the clock, like pretrial motions.

That said, I won't be entirely surprised if it doesn't go to trial until June. It's still a victory for the DOJ as the trial will be wrapped up before the election.
