They plan on stopping crooks from stealing from them, before the items are paid for.

So now they are going to set it up so they can steal the items from you, after they have been paid for.

I see something completely new on the horizon that the folk will gladly go along with, because they will see it as a necessary evil. Yes. A brave new world is upon us.

Being a Luddite is looking more appealing every day.

This is the same crowd that are the first to scream about no jobs in their neighborhood. No chit...There were jobs until you shoplifted, looted, and burned them out. What did you think was going to happen? Did you think the dems would swoop in and make the stores stay open so you can steal...er, shop there? Guess again. Those dems have personal shoppers and couldn't care less about you. But be sure to vote for them again anyway....they are obviously doing sooo much to make your lives better...

None are so blind as those who will not see.

Again, this is why I hate people. You are simply using it as an excuse to justify your own horrible self.

Are they doing bad things? You say so. Maybe they are. Does it matter? Not to me. I will be who I will be and live how I will live. I will do what's right to do. I don't look at someone else's bad behavior and decide that means I can be a scab myself.

Maybe someday you'll see some other people jumping off a tall, tall bridge and recall that thing your mother used to say too late, "If everyone else jumped off a bridge, would you?"

Or be the change you want to see in the world. I think that's Gandhi said that. So by all means, you want to see the world burn? Help it along; just don't come crying to me about how terrible things are in the aftermath.

Stores will have to look like what they are in the Philippines or in the USA ghettos soon. Everything behind bullet proof windows. Can't blame the store owners. I use to manage a 7-11 in Santa Monica and I can tell you this... there is NO Shame in stealing. Mostly at the time is was cold medicine, beer and whine. Run in, run out , jump in the car and sayonara .

Something in your words reminds me of the night of the day Clinton was made POTUS.
I lived across the street from a White Hen. That night, there was a small stream of
Americans, locals, who went in and just started taking stuff. I think it had something
to do with race, because for some reason all the racist stuff the DNC protected
(KKK, Segragation & Slavery, Byrd etc.)
has been gaslighted by media, education and other groups hostile to justice and fair play,
as becoming somehow Republican values. And now, it was their turn.

I recall this vividly because there never was any indication of robbery or brazen theft
at this location prior to the Clinton watermark in history.

I think porch pirating is already huge depending on where you are. I think this is all according to plan. Bring the crime to the general population and many will be wanting the government to come in and take over so they can be protected.

When brick and mortars can't operate in the city, we'll all have to order online and porch pirating will be huge. Then there will be a rash of people getting in trouble for their own asset protection.

Simple fix for porch pirates would be the delivery service requiring a signature for delivery. No signature no delivery. Anything bigger than a letter has to be picked up at the USPS, FedEx, or UPS office. Or signed for. Not so hard to do.

Exactly. Corruption doesn't matter to you. Even though it's destroying your life in ways that you don't comprehend. You'll continue keeping yourself occupied complaining about spot fires as the entire world burns around you. Typical.

Mass corruption doesn't matter to you. You know what doesn't matter to me? Petty theft of cheap s**t and garbage manufactured in enemy territory --China--which is sold to you for 3x the price it costs to produce. Enjoy being robbed. Enjoy your denial.

Very true I've been saying that all along and especially if you were well for myself I spend time in the Philippines under the president Marcus dictatorship that was approved by the way United States of American government so yeah martial law of weights the United States citizens and I wouldn't be surprised and I've been saying many times about something about May is going to happen do I know no I'm not a prophet or I'm not saying that there could possibly be no event either but I'm just saying May is usually the turn of when spring is is starting to show its life and life mother Earth is life and the subconsciousness of mankind is life and that's why I'm saying something about me they might bring in martial law because when you got stores closing left and right because the shoplifting it's just the way it is and if you own stock and major stores it's probably a good time to look at your portfolio and kind of book out if it possibly can at least that's what I would be thinking of and wait out the tide and see what happens in the future but yeah yeah and everything was closed down at 8:00 Americans don't realize well actually Americans went through it by covid-19 everything was closed down but there was hope that it was going to resurmerge into normality but martial law everything is closed down at 8:00 p.m. at night so can Americans adapt to that you guys will find out man

people just don't understand just how bad shoplifting is. the walmart i worked at about maybe 15 years ago, installed self checkouts. now this was done just a couple or so months before our yearly inventory. well that inventory was extremely bad. our store had over doubled our normal theft amounts, or to put into money terms, we had OVER ONE MILLION DOLLARS IN THEFT FOR THE YEAR, just in that one store alone (and we were far from the only store in our district to have that happen). well within a day or two those self checkouts were closed. and they were gone a week or so later. the next year our theft rate was back to normal, only loosing under $500,000 in theft for the year.

think about that. a single store looses about a half million dollars a year in theft, and is typical across many stores. and that like i said was around 15 years ago, when shoplifting was not anywhere near as bad as it is now. so this theft is literally costing companies hundreds of millions of dollars worth of goods stolen a year. the fact is they really don't have a choice to close the worst of the stores. and if that turns areas into food and medication deserts, then so be it, the people in those areas did it to themselves.

didn't i hear about CVS close a whole pile of stores in such areas, perhaps a couple or so years back? again due to how much was being stolen (in my area i'm concerned about all the pharmacies closing down, not due to shoplifting, but due to armed robberies of the pharmaceuticals is becoming a serious problem (regardless of all the gun control laws, just like the big rise in armed car jacking in the area)).

I understand where you are coming from. Don't you have price tags that sound an alert if the item goes through a security check at the door ?

those tags are useless, far too easy to remove or deactivate (all it takes is a magnet). and these days i have heard the shoplifters have actually stolen the canceling and removal "keys", for pretty much all of the security systems that set off the alarms.

i have to take offense of your racist shot at the Philippines. and it has to be out of racism, because it is completely untrue. the ONLY bulletproof glass i have ever seen in a store situation in the Philippines, is only at money changers, money lenders and stores that send money like western union. all places that have huge amounts of cash on site. like a bank. but unlike in the US banks don't even normally have bulletproof glass at the counter. forget about normal stores having it. such things just don't exist in the Philippines that i ever saw in my decade of living there, or my fathers almost two decades living in the Philippines.

there i guess is a small chance you were not being racist, and instead think the barriers put up as part of the covid precautions, are bulletproof glass. most may look like it, but are actually just pretty much saran wrap while most of the rest is just rather thin plastic. even "pay windows" that look like bulletproof glass that have been around forever are also just thin plastic, if not just plain glass.

If you don't charge people with a crime for shoplifting, soon more and more people will do it and the people who pay are paying extra to cover what they steal. If the problem gets out of hand, they close the store....I would if I owned a store and people were stealing all my merchandise. It is a competitive market, and if prices are too high to cover this kind of stuff you will go broke because people will shop where it is cheaper and safer since these groups are scaring the customers.

These big chain stores came here and put the small stores out of business, they did not create many new jobs, the smaller stores employed more people collectively. When Menards came here, people flocked there, I just looked at the prices, the local hardwares had better quality stuff at similar or cheaper prices...but people liked selection so they went with big box stores selection and thought they were getting a better deal...but weren't.

if you think about it, the sad fact is, that if the big chain stores did not come in and takeover, all the stores would have closed even sooner. a company like walmart can handle a lot of theft and not be too hurt. where a mom and pop store would be quickly driven out of business by the shoplifting.

people go shopping at a candy factory? menards is not a store, its a candy manufacturer. some of the best gummies around. hmm, thinking about it, i wonder if they now make marijuana gummies since it's now legal and pot gummies fairly popular.

I don't feel bad that this Wal-Mart is closing. The people in the hood couldn't keep their sticky fingers off the merchandise. They will pay the price now.

I'm sick of thieves ruining everything. We should fine them to within an inch of their life and jail their a**es.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Look at you. You take the one part of my post that you think you can use to try to paint me into a corner ... How very predictable, and it also shows that my point went right over your head. It's been flying right over your head this whole time.

"Whoever fights with monsters should see to it that he does not become a monster in the process. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you."
- Nietzsche

You are focused on the perceived evils of Walmart that you are willing to do what you perceive them to have done to you. You are now the monster yourself. The abyss has gazed into you and you have become what you claim to hate.

You very much want to believe that you are saving me from my own unawareness of the evil of Walmart, but it doesn't work that way. I do what anyone does who does not like Walmart. I DON'T GIVE THEM MY MONEY. I don't shop there. If enough other people did the same, they would start to fold or have to cater to what we do want in order to satisfy.

Disney is finding this out. They've gone too far away from what the customers want in various ways and they're losing a ton of money.

You, on the other hand, are very simple. You think that Walmart steals, so you steal from Walmart. An eye for an eye makes the world blind. Pretty soon, everyone is an evil sh1t - including you. Congrats! You are what you now hate. An evil thief hurting others just like you think Walmart hurts you. No one likes you like no one likes Walmart. I hope all that stuff you took was worth it and loves you because no one else will.

I, on the other hand, will get along just fine because I will still be an honorable, upright, and trustworthy individual having never justified evil in the face of the wrongs done to me.

**EDIT**

The other point I've been making that you have patently been missing is that if all people everywhere were basically good people, then Walmart wouldn't matter because everyone in the organization, top to bottom, would be doing right by others. No organization on earth would be corrupt because corruption is a human thing, not as much an organizational thing. Humans make the organizations. They can only be as corrupt as *we* - people like you and I - make them.

If an organization is corrupt it is because it has corrupt people in it. People like yourself who think that certain things done by others justify doing horrible things themselves, or they are simply lazy or inept or not at all committed to doing right by their fellows because they just don't care. If you want people to do right by you, you have to go out of your way to do right by them, and it has to happen from everyone, everywhere, all the time. This is why I hate people and have a mistrust of bureaucracies - it's just not possible and the system breaks down the larger it gets because the craptastic people can hide in the system and use it to their advantage.

In short, people like yourself are embedded in it at every stage to make it a mockery of what it's supposed to be and make my life hell.

COVID and the St. Floyd debacle accelerated this.

Remember how awesome mom and pop joints were on the left ... until COVID ... and suddenly mom and pop joints had to shut down because they were too stupid to look after our general health, so the only places who could be trusted to do this were the big box cattle call stores like Walmart?

How ironic the left is sometimes.
