What happened to him anyway? Did he post bond? Acting the way he does I can't imagine him lasting long in an Eastern European jail. MMA fighter or not.

I believe he is being held for 30 days, no bail, as they investigate/gather evidence. Saw a pic of him in jail, he looked scared.

Is this something they do in other countries? Lock you up then build the case? I always thought it was the other way around. Build the case, present enough evidence to arrest you. I have no idea if he innocent or guilty but it's a weird one, at last the optics and timing.

my understanding is that they've been building the case for something on the scale of nine months, they've already been charged, and this is detainment to stop them fleeing the jurisdiction. flight risk style stuff.
No idea what you mean about optics and timing, unless you're referring to the guy who's been talking about his sex trafficking openly on the internet for years and probably has wind that they're building a case against him going "oh guys if they get me iT wAs ThE iLlUmInAtI"
"After careful review and facts presented regarding the psychological, physical and mental abuse of African children on January 11, 2018, the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa confirmed that Ethiopian Parliament passed new legislation banning adoptions by foreigners on January 9, 2018.
"In 2019, nearly 70% of human trafficking victims in the U.S. were identified as either being sex trafficked, or victims of both forced labor and sexual exploitation.
"The High Court recently stated that 25 million people worldwide are not afforded their fundamental right to freedom; however, the International Labor Organization estimates the number of human trafficking victims to be approximately 40 million," said the petitioners -- citing the link sites.uab.edu...
The petition also accused the government of Malawi of failing "to do a complete social background check on the adoptive parent" and they have reason to believe that Madonna "is using these children as a social experiment in response to the heavy LGBTQ community push for sodomy in America".
The Federation quotes Malawi Penal Code that provides in Section 137A: 'Indecent practices between females. Any female person who, whether in public or private, commits any act of gross indecency with another female person, or procures another female person to commit any act of gross indecency with her, or attempts to procure the commission of any such act by any female person with herself or with another female person, whether in public or private, shall be guilty of an offense and shall be liable to imprisonment for five years'.
A document explaining the judge's motivation for their 30-day detention stated "the possibility of them evading investigations cannot be ignored" and the suspects could "leave Romania and settle in countries that do not allow extradition.

Oops.
The court of appeal rejected their plight.

Apparently, they appear to be a flight risk.

you have evidence yes? as the romanian police clearly don't, hence their need for a further 30 days.

I know Romania has been pressured to deal with human trafficking.
The Romanian authorities treat all drug-related and sex offenses very seriously. The age of consent is 18. If you are convicted, you can expect a prison sentence.
The Age of Consent in Romania is 15 years old. The age of consent is the minimum age at which an individual is considered legally old enough to consent to participation in sexual activity. Individuals aged 14 or younger in Romania are not legally able to consent to sexual activity, and such activity may result in prosecution for statutory rape or the equivalent local law.
Romania statutory rape law is violated when an individual has consensual sexual contact with a person under age 15. There is a close in age exemption of 4 years. The age of consent rises to 18 if the older party abuses their authority or influence to gain sexual access to the victim. It is also illegal for adults to perform sexual acts in the presence of children under 13, she them pornographic materials, induce the child to meet for sexual activity, or to induce the child to view sex shows.
Romania has a close-in-age exemption. A close in age exemptions, commonly known as "Romeo and Juliet law" in the United States, is a law designed to prevent the prosecution of underage couples who engage in consensual sex when both participants are significantly close in age to each other, and one or both are below the age of consent.
Depending on the situation, the Romania close-in-age exemption may completely exempt qualifying close-in-age couples from the age of consent law, or merely provide a legal defence that can be used in the event of prosecution.

Edit: My bad actually looking into it further the "legal age to have sexual intercourse is 15".
