It makes no sense that the Secretary of State’s Office had more ballots from Maricopa County than Maricopa County recorded. How could that even happen in a fair and honest election?

It actually makes PERFECT sense, and the AzSoS DID NOT 'have more ballots from Maricopa County than Maricopa County recorded'. The AzSoS had a different idea of how much progress Maricopa County had made than the County did. AzSoS was working off OLDER numbers than the County.

Which is trivially obvious. The County is counting ballots and periodically reporting progress to the AzSOS. Who is best placed to know the actual counts: the counters themselves or the interested 3rd party?

I'll spell it out for you. This is how it could happen:
1) The SoS is getting its figures from the County and their offices are not in the same building - maybe not even in the same city, I haven't looked it up. Of course they do have telephones and internet.
2) REMEMBER: The numbers describe the numbers of ballots the County has NOT YET COUNTED. (that is, they are outstanding)
3) At, say, noon on Thursday the County gives a progress report to SoS: 407,664
4) At, say, 14:00 on Thursday the SoS gives a progress report to the press: 407,664
5) At, say, 14:00 on Thursday the County gives a progress report update to the SOS with a new number: 392,000
6) Guess what? The county hasn't stopped counting after its progress report to the SoS at noon. They have, in fact, counted 15,664 more ballots, so the Counties number of outstanding ballots is less than what the SoS knew about when its briefing paper closed.
7) Now the SoS is getting progress reports from all Arizona Counties, and office folks are running around getting information to put together for press briefings.
8) The SoS's press briefing paper is 'closed' at 13:55 for printing/website update - and MISSES the 14:00 progress report from the county. OR the staffer responsible for the briefing, just missed the update coming in at the last minute.
9) The County Recorder doesn't know why the SoS didn't include the updated numbers in its briefing, so he says he can't reconcile his numbers with the SoS numbers.

10) The most important point: who cares? These are progress reports, NOT finished totals. This is November 10. The county has until November 28 to complete the ballot count and certify the results to the Secretary of State. Instantaneous mismatches during a work in progress are absolutely to be expected.

Maricopa County does not have any 'vote machines' to have issues with.

Maricopa County has vote COUNTING machines, which had issues with the paper ballots produced by some printers. Every one of the 'problem' ballots was counted, if the voter put the ballot in the ballot box as they were absolutely encouraged to do.

REPUBLICAN election officials in Maricopa County have certainly been active in the voter suppression arena for many years. Their special method is eliminating the number of polling places available in districts that are seen to be Democratic strongholds. Their strategy was built around presumed 'working class' voters wouldn't be bothered to hunt for a polling place and stand in the hot sun all day waiting to get in when they should be working. And they were right until Democrats learned how to use the mail.

It used to be gospel that Republicans would use mail in votes but Democrats wouldn't, so eliminating polling places was supposed to give them an advantage. But Democrat voters are now using mail in votes and Republican voters are being urged by their leaders to stand out in the sun on the last voting day.

And anyway: (From : Charlie Kirk is wrong, Maricopa County did not reduce polling places in 2022 elections)

Maricopa County had 223 voting centers open in the 2022 general election, more than it did during the August primary elections (210) and more than it did during the 2020 general election (175).

Of course even the 2020 general election was a mild rebound from a very low point. In 2016, Maricopa County had 60 polling places which was 1 polling place for 21,000 voters. Pima County, with less than half the population of Maricopa had twice the number of polling places.

Republicans have only Republicans to blame.

Don't forget that even Rudy Giuliani admitted that at no point did he ever have any evidence what-so-ever. His sole intention was to draw established election procedures into doubt and delay Constitutional procedures as long as possible to satisfy the ego of a deluded egomaniac.

Seems obvious to me that they are just trying to influence their voters or have massive egos.
