I was speaking more in general terms when it comes to the media pointing out our wrongs instead of just focusing on Russia's invasion.

But the fact still remains the actual people that live in the Donbas speak Russian and wants to be Russian and voted to join the Federation.

It is not a fact because they didn't have any constitutional right to vote on it. So it is OK in your view that a chunk of a country can just leave and join another? It doesn't even make sense... Also, Russia didn't just try and take Donbas, they wanted the whole thing, but failed to do it. To be honest, if they just took Donbas and stopped there I would bet there would not still be a war today. Now that they wanted to take it all I guess they can just suck it when they come back to the oh we will just take Donbas now...

I mean sure, from what I’ve heard they have a robust welfare system. But I mean, it’s a country of over 140 million, with a gdp the same as Canada… no way they can in reality afford to be taking good care of all the people they have now, let alone the regions they’re trying to take by force in Ukraine.

I’m extremely skeptical that it’s all rainbows and lollipops living under Russian rule.

Welfare systems suck...just enough to survive. I would like the chance to actually make a good life and not just say, oh well I get my block of Gov cheese...For most in Russia they do not actually get a chance. I started as an E1 in the military and I'm doing very well today... not a path in Russia unless you are part of the elites.

The reasons are that the pensions get paid and the roads get tarmacked, they get subsidized heating and reasonable rents. The alternative is the western system where you have the alternative of the streets if you can't pay your rent, it is that simple, not some ideological faith in some stupid "Ism"If you can prove that the vote was rigged, anything else is BS Crimea was happy and thriving.

The Donbass and Crimea have been very happy under Russia, the Ukrainian supporters can't even argue that because they know its true. Mariupol wanted Ukrainian for es out of their city for years as well.

If the Ukrainian Nationalists/nazis didn't overthrow the Ukrainian government in 2014 with the backing of THE US there would be no war right now either. There would have been no fighting in 2014-2021 either.

In a democracy, the will of the people should be paramount not the rule of vested interests protecting their wealth. There is a good reason for this because it creates a free market system. Once it is taken over by a power source that just looks after itself the free market, and the wealth created from it disappears for all but those manipulating it. They haven't got to innovate or come up with the products for the times. It's too easy, look at China it just copied its way into the present. No real force is driving innovation. With necessity being the mother of invention. Thus you end up with a faked system that will eventually fail to deliver. Like it is doing now.

If The Kremlin hadn't funded and armed Russian Nationalist and extreme right-wing Militias throughout Luhansk and Donetsk pre-2014 onwards there wouldn't have been the fighting there either, which would mean there probably wouldn't be a war there now either.

Ya Nazis...all over the place... Even Russia has stopped using that BS. So you are saying that Russia got butt hurt that their puppet was removed in 2014? Once again it is not up to YOU or Russia to dictate what another country does.

This doesn't even make sense when talking about a chunk of a country. What would Russia do if a chuck of their country wanted to go back to China as it once was? The will of the people is not 10% or less as what is in Donbas area.

You are right in if Russia hadn't been funding that little war for 8 years with military supplies and mercs there would have never even been that either.

Happiness under FSB surveillance is not real happiness. If you are unhappy you tend to dissapear.

Ask the young there if they are happy as they are just rounded up and sent to the front lines with a week of training. Up to 80k dead on the Russian side, so far and it isn't stopping anytime soon. Think of how many have life long injuries too...100s of thousands...

Also, what is happy? Just enough to live on and not much more? If you are a good Russian then they will let you live, give you the basics to live, but boy do not forget they have total rule over you and if they want you to fight, then you fight or die. If you want to protest your son going to war then you disappear... It's an existence of fear in the end as their are many levels of power that takes advantage of everyone below them starting with the cop on the street corner and the landlord that wants a little "extra" or you lose you place... It just gets worst the higher up in the power pyramid you are as to how much control you have on everyone else below you, and how much you can take from them.

Europe calls Russia terrorists, and they respond by proving Europe right. How very Russian.

Russia has failed epically, and now can only resort to attacks of petty, brutish spite. I think we will see a lot more of these sorts of attacks as Russia gets humilated more in Ukraine.
