A spare or reserve parachute might have been an idea.

Or to perhaps thoroughly discredit the natural geo-centric view, and replace it with science's helio-centric view?

The geo-centric view is a very practical thing. For example, Rudolf Steiner's bio-dynamic agriculture uses it.

Something new always has to destroy the what is here otherwise no one would want it.

I don't think the earth is flat, but we once did.

Until science happened .
Not so much after that.

who's to say we aren't similarly wrong in other aspects...surely science will happen again and again, or do you think this was a unique once in an evolution shift of thinking. I think it's a steady progress, that once in a while get some things right that will shift something so profound like the geometry of the stuff under our feet.

People burned for believing in a globe, so I'm just very open to new ideas, as I wouldn't want to be on team burn them at the stakes of public ridicule, when it turns out they were right...

but you do you

And then you have yer Moon Landing Deniers.

A similar breed.

Pretty sure some of them are just up for an argument, too.

Yes, and none of them can give me an explanation for that mirror on the moon the US planted there that is used to bounce signals for scientific research. Maybe the scientist lie on this too, but I have little faith in flat earth. Hollow Earth makes more sense. Flat earthers need to find that sun and moon prop that would have to be there propping up the features that beam light down to Earth.

The ancient Greeks knew our Earth to be a globe.

They even managed to calculate our the earth's circumference and not be to far of the mark.

We also see the Pyramids and so many other human constructs that seem to have celebrated the sphere and key locations geographically based on the Earth being round ish.

Are you saying science will change and declare the Earth is flat and not an oblate spheroid ?
That does make me laugh .
A naturally flat object cannot be created in space .

That's good, at least we both have had some laughs, your reading comprehension does make me laugh too.

I think it's a steady progress

know what the word progress means, it goes from simple to more complex, going back to a disk would be regressing...

I hope that helps.
Ridiculing is so much fun isn't it?

Not very scientific either....
How much of what you belive coming from the ivory tower of science did you have the chance to peer review for yourself?
Science is corrupted and crippled thanks to economy. A healthy dose of distrust is in order.
I think alot is just blind faith, and the way folks hide behind science or bring it up to stifle certain topics it's just the same behaviors as the religious folks.
it might not meet the criteria for a religion but the people adhering to the doctrines certainly behave in similar ways.

This time for everyone :

Try and rebuke that .
Then realize science is real .
