Putin could announce new wave of mobilisation as early as today, ISW says...........

"Vladimir Putin could announce a second mobilisation of troops to expand his army as early as today, according to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Last September, Mr Putin ordered a partial mobilisation in Russia and the Kremlin's defence minister Sergei Shoigu said Russia was drafting 300,000 reservists.

It was Russia's first mobilisation since the Second World War and appeared to be an admission Moscow's war in Ukraine was not going to plan.

The ISW states that Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has announced that Mr Putin will deliver comments in St Petersburg this evening in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Soviet forces breaking the Nazi siege of Leningrad.

"Putin is fond of using symbolic dates to address the Russian people, and some Russian pro-war bloggers noted that he will seize this opportunity to either declare mobilisation or war with Ukraine," the ISW said.

"Ukrainian and Western intelligence also repeatedly warned of Putin's mobilisation preparations scheduled for mid-January."

Mr Putin has so far referred to the conflict only as a "special military operation". Declaring a war would allow for a more widespread mobilisation." news.sky.com... 3

Hard frozen ground allows vehicles to roll cross-country much more easily. Deep mud immobilizes wheeled vehicles and often tracked vehicles as well.

Cheers

Cavv what significance do you see from the "freezing2 for operations? I have no military background hence the question..

I'll attempt to answer this.

There is a Russian word for the time when the rains turn the ground into deep mud - rasputitsa. Travel anywhere off good roads becomes very difficult.
When the temperature drops below zero the ground freezes, so it is much easier to move across fields.

This makes a lot of difference to the ability to fight!

A big meeting of the allies of Ukraine is coming up this Friday in Ramstien,Germany-touted as the "last chance" for NATO countries if they wish to prevent Russia from winning ground or even the whole war.

A meeting between Ukraine's allies on Friday to discuss providing more arms to the country will be their "last possible" opportunity to prepare Ukraine for fresh Russian attacks, according to our analyst Professor Michael Clarke.
The UK has committed to sending 14 Challenger 2 tanks, among a "possible 100" which could be provided by allied countries depending on the outcome of talks in Rammstein, Germany.
With a minimum of 10 weeks needed to train a tank crew, Professor Clarke said 20 January would be the last date to make a decision if the allies want to arm Ukraine before a renewed Russian offensive - expected early this year.

news.sky.com... 3

This is another important event-unfortunatley its going to have some negative side effects, because Russia will be able to claim its more evidence they are at war with the whole of the NATO aggressor.

The other thing is-Ukraine are asking for minimum of 300 MBTs-Because that is how many they seem to think they need to push the Russians out of all Ukraine.
So depending on how many they actually get-that allows Putin to "read the mood" and intentions of NATO-less than say 200 tanks may lead Putin to think NATO are not fully committed whereas if NATO decide to send 300 tanks and better missiles etc Putin may feel the need for a quick massive escalation to win before such materiel arrives.

I think the meeting will end up with less provided than what Ukraine ask for,as the NATO leaders will be wary that sending to much will escalate-but that means Ukraine will not get enough supplies to push Russia out,and the war will grind slowy on.
I also think Putin has planned another huge multi city missile strike for not long after the details of the meeting are announced.

We had a report this morning about Ben Wallace trying to strongarm the German's into supplying tanks to the Ukrainian's............

"The British defence secretary, Ben Wallace , will join counterparts from Poland and the Baltic countries in Estonia to mount a final attempt to put pressure on Germany to authorise sending Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine this week.

The meeting of so-called “Leopard coalition” of countries willing to or keen to see western tanks sent to Kyiv comes a day before a group of about 50 defence ministers assemble in Ramstein, Germany to discuss future weapons shipments to Ukraine.

Defence sources said a purpose of the meeting on Thursday was “to encourage the Germans” if no decision has been made by Berlin before then, although the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, is due to speak at the Davos" www.theguardian.com...

Tensions are building between Yevgeny Prigozhin and the Kremlin after the Defence Ministry failed to mention his Wagner troops when they announced the capture of Soledar , Prigozhin has now hit out at those in the Kremlin allowing youtube to be accessed in Russia .... free speech doesn't sit well with Fascists.

"YouTube is the information plague of our time," Yevgeny Prigozhin said in a statement posted on his Telegram channel, alleging, without evidence, that 40% of the videos on the platform were "politicised and directed against Russia".

He said there were two reasons why it had not been banned in Russia, which has clamped down on foreign media since invading Ukraine in February: that it was supposedly indispensable for ordinary citizens and, primarily, the opposition of President Vladimir Putin's administration.

"We have a huge number of people on Staraya Square in the Presidential Administration who think only about one thing: if only Russia lost the war as soon as possible, if only the Americans would come and regulate us as soon as possible," Prigozhin said.

Ouch !

"Those who are against the closure of YouTube are, in my opinion, people who are traitors to their people and their country, traitors to previous and future generations of Russians. They live abroad, take holidays abroad, raise children abroad, proclaim high values but, nevertheless, support the West in every possible way and feed on it."

So , about that Russian Civil war then ... sooner rather than later ?

Yeah,I am sure our announcement about the Challengers was timed as a sort of ice breaker(or strong arm) before this meeting to try to encorage all the NATO allies to send in bigger guns.

The government of germany are causing problems by the way they are so reluctant to provide certain things-I understand why they are reluctant, but they must see the need..
The army guy on Sky news was saying they have upwards of 2000 leopards just sat in storage,so a few hundred of them would be a good start if they are serous about stopping Putin like they claim.

Of course,it all depends on what Scholz's masters at Davos tell him to do..

Russia sure are being gifted lots of things to whinge about recently(apart from Youtube I mean).

They are also pissed off about the German news company Die Walt finding out about Bulgaria supplying Arms to Ukraine on the sly, after publicly saying they would not-

Bulgaria is regarded as one of the few NATO members that, along with Hungary, has publicly opposed supplying Ukraine with weapons amid Kiev’s ongoing conflict with Moscow.
And yet, the government in Sofia was running a secret arms and fuel supply scheme for Ukraine throughout the spring and summer of 2022, Germany’s Die Welt daily reported on Wednesday, citing Ukrainian and former Bulgarian officials. According to Die Welt, the scheme was largely devised by just two men: the former Bulgarian prime minister, Kiril Petkov, and the ex-finance minister, Asen Vasilev. The co-founders of the ‘We Continue the Change’ political movement, both Petkov and Vasilev are Harvard University graduates.

www.rt.com...

Bonus aggravating fact to whinge about-The weapons were paid for by us meddling Brits and the Americans.

And I have found 2 more items that I doubt Russia will be over the moon about-

Someone has let Lizard Lord Henry Kissinger out of stasis for long enough for him to go to Davos to declare he has changed his mind on the Ukraine situation.
Instead of wanting to appease Putin by saying Ukraine should cede the eastern provinces to Russia-He now thinks Ukraine should join NATO.
Too late Henry-They can't now they are being invaded see..Now get back in your pod.

Henry Kissinger, the former U.S. secretary of state, became the latest public figure to dramatically change his opinion about the Ukraine War after facing public backlash.
Kissinger, 99, addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday and spoke about the conflict.
“Before this war, I was opposed to the membership of Ukraine in NATO, because I feared it would start exactly the process that we have seen,” he said. “Now that this process has reached this level, the idea of a neutral Ukraine under these conditions is no longer meaningful.”

trendsinthenews.substack.com...

I think that is Kissinger reptile code for "NATO and Russia are pretty much at war"

The second point Russia will no doubt soon be whinging about is the deployment of NATO AWACS aircraft to Romania to"strengthen the alliance’s defence posture in the eastern flank."
www.airforce-technology.com...

This gives NATO and anyone they share info with almost God like signals hoovering and advanced radar abilities over vast swathes of Ukraine-even though the aircraft are operating outside of Ukrainian airspace.
More NATO escalation,Putn will say.

Seems they are going full on with the 'holy war' narrative now... so backwards (although its more a mess of everything).

Its funny how they seem to love pushing the idea every other person in the West is gay, or something else and that we're all satanists (although satanism seems to be ruZZian these days for anyone who isnt culturally ruZZian and orthodox)... in the last 2 years ive meet 1 gay person (nice guy) at my brothers wedding, and i dont think in 40+ years ive meet a single satanist (odd religion but hey thats all religions for you)... interesting fact, ruZZia has one of the lowest birth rates in the world, i think its ruZZia thats gonna have the problem finding new fighters (and the ones they are sacrificing for this war are just going to tank that birth rate even more).

If 50 countries are against you... then its fairly probable its not those countries thats the issue. Also another empty nuke threat if ruZZia doesnt win, no more world (although its more along the lines of if ruZZia goes the only thing that mattered to them in the world goes, such myopic self centric thought processes).

Its interesting the rhetoric vibe has gone from 'when we win' to 'if we dont win' over the year... the subtext to that is loud and clear, ruZZia is loosing... which is why they have to push the religious and god angle, everything else has failed its all they have left to use as an angle of motivation.

If gods on ruZZias side, why was/is that huge cold patch sitting ONLY over ruZZia right now? if god is even watching, he's not on ruZZias side thats for sure... at least from how I see god, then again religous people tend to flop between Abrahamic god and new testament god on a whim when needed... even though those two versions of god are vastly different, but if your wanting killers bring out the old testament god and that old divine wrath.

Thinking on it, I think ruZZia is going the way it is for one simple reason... they know that through starting this war they've screwed themselves, given their economy, work force, birth rates etc they've basically screwed themselves into an unrecoverable position if they loose... ruZZia really really has to win or it will collapse as a viable country (as it is shaped now), it cant win however without making that rapid collapse quicker, and even if it wins (lol) the collapse will still happen anyway due to their actions in starting the war in the first place...

ruZZia is done for, no matter the out come... and good riddance.

The problem is that 50+ countries are America's gay/transexual lap dogs. You can't watch YouTube or mainstream TV commercials for one second without seeing gay propaganda, bunch of freaks with painted faces, men wearing girl's makup and beta males who are limp wristed.

It's funny that Ukraine is fighting to belong to this sect of atheists, it's actually down right hillarious. They'll regret it.

I'm not being bigoted, just being factual. There's not a single puff that is fighting in Ukraine right now. Those are hetero gender role'd men and women who will come back even more disgusted by the degenerates in the West.

China is even more outraged by the pedophilic/homosexualized "sectionalist" West. And they are building 1 carrier and 12 warships a year to do something about it.

Who do you want next to you fighting back 100 million chinese. Buncha trannies?
